Ladies, need your advice again. As you all know my wedding is 11/11/06. I haven't had my first "official" bridal party meeting as yet. I used the computer to email everyone the dresses and have been communicating with them that way and on the telephone. I did want to make a day of things. What are some of you ladies doing?

Thats a good question Rhonda.I havent had a meeting with my bridal party either.Heck my bridal party dont even know who they are yet...lol.I've already chosen who I want I just havent aked them if they wanted to be a part of our wedding or not.I'm still trying to find the "perfect" dress for the women. I have a few I like and I plan on letting them decide, the majority votes will choose. As far as the meeting I planned to have a bar-b-que at our local park with all the guys and girls from the wedding and go over everything then. I didnt want to just talk about money and things they need to buy, I also wanted them to have fun and get to know each other as well. The best way for black people to gather up is when there's free food and drink and I figure a bar-b-que will be great.
i'm taking all my BM to a Spa salon, lunch, then we are gonna go dress shopping, dinner and all that good stuff. we gonna do it in the summer cause all my BM live in different states, so i'm sending for all of them this summer.
That sounds great Happy. I wish I was one of your bridesmaids so I could get a free trip out of town and to the salon and spa and even shopping...lol. I'm going to do my bar-b-que in the summer too. The weather will be great and thats the best season for it I think. But after what you've decided to do my idea sucks.....lol but imma still use it,maybe I can add extras to improve it.I 'm not getting married until March 24,2007 so I still have time to plan.
Great idea alvinslove, you do what you can and a barbeque is a good way to get them together! Now Happlymarried505 I am once again confused, I thought you were already married! Help me understand

i'm already married but out first wedding was kinda tacky cause we really didnt have the money that we needed to have the wedding that i wanted cause we were opening up his computer buiness, and trying to start my salon business so alot of our wedding money went in to those to businesses, and right now the computer shop is open and the bridal salon will open january 2nd 2007, so we decide to have another wedding in 2008, well ahve the money, and ill get that princess wedding i wanted an planned for since i was 10 years old. so the pictures that i'm posting are not by a real photograhyer,so they look kinda GHETTO, but i still look good. i used my cousin dress, cause it ment alot to me after she pasted. but my wedding in 2008 will be off the chain, cause i have no set budget,a nd i'm very thankful for that
ohhhhhhhhh I see! That's awesome! I wish you and your husband success on both of your businesses. That was a very smart decision to wait until you had those things taken care of.

i thank the lord everyday for our blessing that he has placed upon us, in our marriage and our businesses
My BM's are scattered all over Florida and Georgia and MOH is is New York.I plan to have something simple for the girls.A "meet and greet"at my house with chicken wings and other snacks so that they can get to know each other.Later, we may go bowling.I haven't come up with anything else.Lol.
Born Blessed!
that sounds like a good plan. i got lucky when i picked my bridesmaid, cause they all know eachother and most of them are my family, i only have 2 that are not family but we act and treat eachother as if we was real family, mine are in california, and st louis,
Everyone that will be in my wedding live in California but they are scattered all over the state. FH suggested we have the men and women all at one meeting for the first meeting because most of our bridal party is family but are also couples. So it would be easier to get both people to drive doen her together than to make 2 seperate trips. And that will be fine with me, the way gas prices are I want to save them as much money as possible. Later in the day we can seperate and do our own thing.
Platinum I love the bowling idea. There is a bowling alley less than a mile from where I live. Maybe we can set up a man vs women game. Me and FH try to go bowling at least once a week so it would be fun to get a few games going with the wedding party. That can be where we have all our othe meetings....ok im getting overwhelmed and excited over here..let me cool it down.....
We just finished 2 years leading the marriage ministry at our church and every time we played the not so newlywed game we had a blast. We also did a game where you write attributes (clever, handy, smart, shopaholic, laid-back, hyper, sexy, etc) on cards - have everyone pull 3-5 cards and the women swap with other women to get the cards that describe their husbands, and same the husbands swap. After about 5 minutes the husbands and wives introduce their spouse using the cards they have. We also played Battle of the Sexes, a board game where the men have to answer ques about girly stuff and vice versa -- the guys really surprised us.
LOL that sound likes a good game, i might have to put that into our 1st bridal party meeting whe we have it

I hope you'll wait until the summer of '07 to send for you BM's because the gown style will change several times before your wedding date. That way your dress will be up to date.

That's the best time to do for the first meeting, you're lucky because they all know each other already. It's much better than meeting the person your walk with at the rehersal.

Something like what Phenomonique is doing sounds good to me. I think I will cook some chicken wings, potato salad, etc. and introduce everyone. Most of my BMs know each other, only one of the ladies needs to meet everyone. I think an informal intro at my house will do just fine. I know we will have a blast because all of these ladies are really special. I have a week off from work next month, so I will probably plan it around that time.

My wedding party already knew each other. We just had a little get together.

Meeting new people can be a bit intimidating especially if you not an out going person and/or very shy...in this situation I would suggest to keep it as informal as possible, give people the opportunity to blend and hang out....I'm a person I like to make people feel comfortable so immediatley I attack a person who seems shy in a corner- that way on the wedding day everybody will be comfortable in their skin .....I love being a social butterfly :-)

Why am I not surprised! But you have a bubbly personality, so I'm sure it's easy for you. Can you believe I use to be very, very shy?
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
Niquey as sure as the heavens are high I believe you cause I was the same way - GO FIGURE! - I was so shy one time ago, I would giggle at everything just to avoid people and certain things....wow! I have come a long way :-)

I
I know I'm probably running a little behind schedule. Our meeting will not be until mid-April for a November wedding. It just wasn't feasible to do it sooner. I'm hoping that everyone will be able to make it.

Rony you have done so much already, there is no need for you to be stressed out - I mean normally the purpose for the first meeting is to decide on a gown and you guys have already done that....send them a little note or email informing them of your intentions and you're set to go.
