Re: flowers

I'm set for flowers. A have a very talented lady who works with me and does our floral arrangements (I signed her on a few months ago). She will go to the wholesaler's and buy all the flowers that we'll need. She'll be making everything from boutonnieres to table floral arrangements.

Prior to that, I have this wonderful florist in Brooklyn that was going to handle my flowers for me. She was going to do my bouquet, all the flowers for my huge bridal party (28) Limited decorations for the church, and the floral arrangements for my tables all under $1,200. I use her whenever I'm doing a wedding in New York. I referred sensationablyhappy to her and she saved a bundle as well by ordering from her.

That's what I'm doing Diva.

Re: flowers

I also work with someone who does wonderful floral arrangements. We are using silk flowers. To cut down the cost I ordered the flowers from www.afloral.com
I was a little nervous at first so I only ordered a few. They actually were really nice! So I ordered the remainder.

Before that my FMIL was supposed to them, but she is so last minute on everything I did not want a sloppy job on my flowers!

Oh Yes, Ginoue, can I please have your florist info I was trying to do my own because of the crazy florist prices in the bronx but it never seems to come out right.

Sorry Pebbles I am not flower savvy but both the silk and fresh are nice but it all depends on who is doing it. I am too embarassed to even show you the silk bouquet I tried to DIY. My FH told me it looked like a dead bush.

I am using silk flowers for everything. My aunt does flower arrangements and she is making the boutonnieres, corsages, bouquets, and even the flowers for my reception. I think silk will be, of course, less costly but at the same time they look just as good and won't wither.

Sorry that it took such a long time to get back to you mrs080908. As a Wedding Planner/Coordinator, I tend to get very busy on weekends and therefore travel a lot. Again, I'm very sorry that I took so long to reply to your request.

The name of the Florist in Brooklyn is Flowerworks Wedding Center. The address is 547 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11216. The phone number is 718-230-9393. They have terrific packages, starting at $249 (Bridal Oval shaped bouquet, Maid of Honor bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquet
2 orchid or rose corsages, 7 rose boutonnieres and a free throw bouquet) Yes Diva!!! all for $240. The people there are truly professional and they're always, always on time. So, please, give them a call and set up an appointment to meet with them. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. They have other packages as well and they will do a spectacular job on your wedding/Reception.

I didn't use them but I ordered a sample from a company....Its been over a year so I don't remember the company name.

When I got the sample, they looked pretty good. And they old well. Unfortunately the only reason I didn't order them is because they were expensive for the amount I needed...Which was A LOT. I also ordered a sample of their silk petals and they looked good, and the price was right. Freeze dried are about the same price-wize, if you want white, they actually look kind of off-white, so I wouldn't have ordered the white...I looked at different colors, and they were nice....I think ordering a sample is worth it...Its usually no fee....
I will check and see if I find the company, but a simple google may do the trick...

EDIT! PetalGarden.com!

I used the Dollar Tree special..LOL
I figured just decided that I Wasnt spending a ton of money on petals. I decided to put that extra money elsewhere.
I ordered mine from the Dollar Tree.
I was able to get a box of petals for just under $50(I think)
I ended up with a bunch left over and gave them to a friend of mine getting married in July.

Worked out for her too cause now she doesnt have to buy any

I ordered my buckles from ebay. I wanted the square ones, but they were sold out. I got the circle ones for 75 cents a piece. I bought all that she had, but I can give you her contact info. if you want. She says she has a shipment coming in the mail. I found about her from a link in the "embellishments" forum. I think 2bmrspotts posted it there a while ago.
You can also find the square for as little as a dollar on yourinvited.com.au

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Keithsbride. I've decided to go with my original idea instead, because although $.75 doesn't sound like much, but I'm going to be sending out 150 invitations and that $112.50, could truly be spent somewhere else. Now, if I could find some elegant plastic rhinestones ones for about $.25 each, I might be tempted.

Thank you so very much for replying so very quickly!!!

Keithsbride ~ it's a shame that you've already bought your buckles. A friend just called me with information on where I could get some very cheaply. This company is selling a bag of 20 for $6.56. I just place an order for 7 and it came to $48.68 including tax and shipping. They were perfect for me as I was looking for those that bear a resemblance to antique gold.

Yeah Me!!! I check off my list of a gazillion things, but thanks ever so much. I'd given up on the buckles because I just didn't see paying over $100 for something that most people would not keep anyway. I'm happy now, because I really wanted to do my pocketfold invitations with buckles!!!

Re: flowers

Hi CMT,

I purchased preserved rose petals from flyboynaturals.com for our rose petal toss and to decorate tables. They're real so not to worry about them looking fake. The prices were reasonable and they also have bulk ordering and "budget" petals for brides on a budget. They still smelled like roses too! I think you have to order early from them because the petals go fast in prime wedding season. It's good to get a sample in your color choice. Dark colors probably do better than light colors. The colors I ordered were "tango" and "gingersnap" and I was very pleased. Their petals have been in several different movies such as Memoirs of a Geisha, Legally Blond 2, In the Cut, and Mona Lisa Smile and featured in a bunch of brides' magazines.

Our hotel would have objected to us throwing silk petals on the seaside terrace (because they might hurt the fish). But when I told them that they were real, they could not object.

CMT, I haven't heard of that, but I guess it kind of makes sense. I don't want you to think, though, that the preserved petals look or feel exactly like fresh petals. Get a sample and try what you mentioned to see whether or not they will do for you. I know I can be very particular about certain things and not fussy about others. For me, they worked fine. I wasn't concerned about people inspecting them. I just wanted to achieve a certain look for the pics and decor. Since, I was sending whatever we needed to St. Thomas, it was convenient for us not to go looking for rose petals in St. Thomas or deal with the expense there.

We did silks and everyone took a centerpiece...My MIL still has hers at her house. I am glad I did silks because my bouquet is my keepsake. If I want to let someone else use it, I can or pass it to a friend....I am not knocking the real deal bc if I could have afforded it (well I could have fresh hydrangeas are more expensive and hard to get than fresh roses) but once a real flower dies, it dies...I am putting a piece of it, and the boutainnaire in our scrapbook (still not done....)ugh....But it was nice everyone still has their keepsake from my wedding.
