Hey Ya'll

Anyone willing to share the price of flowers done by a florist? I met with a local florist that I always hear good things about and whom also did my prom flowers. I don't know if the price is good or not, in the meantime my mom is doing research on DIY flowers. The quote included: Bride, 5BM, 2FG, 4MINI BOUQUET(MOMS & GRANDS), 25 CENTERPIECES, 10 BOUTS AND CAKE FLOWERS. This also includes set up and 5 vases to turn BM bouquets into head table arrangement. All this for $2300.00! What do you think?

Re: Flowers

I cannot respond. I did all my own flowers, bouquets centerpieces etc and I spent less than $500. My centerpieces were in Michaels and Rag Shop going for $40 a piece. I did them for $5. which confirms my theory ladies, the unfinished products are sooooo much cheaper than b4 they add labor.

Re: Flowers

My flowers (silk) came from an online vendor and everything my bouquet, 5 bridesmaids 10 bouquets, bouts, and 6 corsages were $500. It appears that you are getting a lot for your money, but I really don't know if that is a good price or not. Are the flowers silk or fresh?

It seems to me that's a good price for everything that you're getting. But, I'm clueless too.

Taj, we have to get together so you can give me some of your ideas. :-) That sounds like my price range.

I know fresh flowers are more expensive than fake flowers. Is this florist's price out of your price range?

Re: Flowers

Well the thing is I didn't really set a budget for flowers. I just want them to be really nice. The original plan was for my mom to do them, but after pricing vases I don't know if I want to buy them and be stuck with like 25 vases, then keeping all the flowers fresh!? I'm starting to think it might be a headache. So I met with the florist to get an idea of how much we would save if any by doing them.

Re: Flowers

I'm a bargain shopper and a DIY person sometimes.I bought silk flowers from www.efavormart.com and designed the bouquets myself.I spent less than $65.I didn't design centerpieces because we didn't decide on a venue for the reception. When we do,I'll do the centerpieces as well.

I must agree with jayda. That is a good price for the amount of things the florist is providing. I myself however is still in search for a excellent florist.

Re: Flowers

That is a good price for fresh. But I think you need to set a budget for flowers, and discuss with FH. If he doesn't see a problem then cool. If $$ is a concern, then you can discuss ways a florist can bring the cost down, by purchasing maybe your own vases or using a different kind of flower or shade....Plus are you using any flowers at the ceremony for decoration, an arch or something?

Just make sure you set a budget, because the proce for flowers can skyrocket when you really sit down and consider EVERY place flowers will be.

Girls who use Silk: I went to Michaels to get the flowers my floral person picked on a day micheals was having 50% off sale, so we were able to buy the really really nice silks. Well, some were not in stock but I had the recipt and sku numbers of the samples my florial person purchased-so I was able to get a rain check on the next order, so when they come in, I still get the 50% off price even though the sale is over:)

Bumble, that is great. I think I'm going to check them out. I've been looking online for some nice silk coursages/boutineres, but haven't seen anything yet. Do you ladies have some good sites?

Re: Flowers

Instead of keeping the centerpieces,at the end of the reception you can draw names and give them away or you and your FH can give them to those who lended a helping hand or ear in the planning of your wedding. It is just a thought.

I like the ideal of giving them to someone who helped(hand/ear)! I feel like the flowers are a special part and to give them to someone special is nice. Thanks AugustBride!

Re: Flowers

Septbride, Muellers in Newark on central ave has great silk flowers. They are actually where the florists go to get their flowers both real and fake so they are wholesale. 07 bride, we are giving away all centerpieces at the reception. We are making a sort of game of it by putting a bow underneath the chair of 1 of the people at the table. That person gets the centerpiece. I have also seen people pass it around and whoever's holdong it when the music stops, gets the centerpiece. that way you are not stuck with everything

I think that price is great considering it includes 25 centerpieces. Are the centerpices hi's or lows?

half & half, but on the print out it didn't look like that made a difference. I might be going with the caterers centerpieces since I spent more than budgeted on my gown.

Well, for where you live, that sounds okay but maybe you could find a little cheaper. I have different number of flowers and am using candle centerpieces with just petals around them. I'm doing ALL fresh flowers from a floral designer who will set all of it up herself. I hate fake flowers and am only using them as a throw away bouq. for the reception since I know real flowers will get torn to shreds by my girls.

My flowers:
Bridal bouq
4 brides maids bouq
5 crosages
8 bout
1 groom bout that's different
2 ring bearer bouts that are different
1 floural arrangement for middle of outside arc
2 centerpieces for on both sides of arc
up to 20 handmade single daisy arrangements with bows for every outside aisle chair
- aisle petals for both sides of aisle, reception petals for tables, and flower girls

Price as of right now including set up and extra ribbon: $1,900

Re: Flowers

Classy...seems like your getting a lot for your money. I hope I can find the same. I need:
1 bride bouquet (plus 1 throw away bouquet for the toss)
7 BM bouquets
7 groommen bouts plus 1 smaller for the ring bearer
16 flower centerpeices
4-5 flowers centerpeice vases for head table
2 mini bouquets for the flower girls
and one arrangement for above the fireplace mantle.
I think the one above the fireplace needs to be a silk arrangement.
My budget for the florist is 2000...however I haven't got a quote just yet. (fingers crossed...toes crossed for that matter!)
here's my florist link:
