I'm trying to figure out a few gift ideas for a 50+ yr. old bride. Of course, she doesn't need the typical 'newlywed' household stuff. Her style is 'Victorian' (antique-lovin) and her groom is a cowboy (western). Any gift ideas?

Victorian Homes 6 issues It is under $20 but will go over big if she genuinely has a love of the period.
Also consider an elegant penoir set. She can wear it after or during her honeymoon and it will be tasteful ans sexy. I bet her hubby will love it too. You can find beautiful ones at Henry & June Lingerie. Or Create your own bottle of wine! Signature wines lets you buy bottles of wine with personalized labels. You can put their names and wedding date or give them wine that will mature and and they can drink it on their 3rd annicersary. Guess who they will remember most? YOU! lol
I didn't want to buy her any lingerie b/c I don't know her that well...she'a a co-worker. BUT I like the Victorian Book & Victorian Borders: Laser-Cut Plastic Stencils (she's like a mini Martha Stewart) and the personalized wine idea. She won't forget me anyway b/c we got engaged the SAME weekend. Both of us came in Monday on Cloud 9, spreading the news. Technically, my FH proposed to me first, "I'm pushin the most weight" (as baby sis would put it), and I got to work first to tell everyone. :-P Amyway back to the subject at hand...

Cinny do you really know her that well to purchase Lingerie for her?...that piece of garment is very pesonally as I am sure you are aware of and really should only be purchase if you are on that level with her...if she is just a co-worker than stick with the border. Hey this is only my foolish opinion.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
I know right...Rosetta trying set me up. (and she's NOT a sista either!!!!!!In these work situations, I am the token) Shoooot! I don't need to hear about that come Monday...I'm probably going to go with the personalized wine, but the shipping is taxing hard!

Cinamin1 you always have me cracking up! lol. It sucks being the token. So much pressure. She would have thought it a black thing if you had given her naughty nonos as a wedding gift! See their face come Monday Ha! you crazy. Charley. Salt in her tea??? You more island than me! lol
Yes gurl Rosey...down here we can get real vicious (thank God I am a Christian - Amen!, don't let someone mess with ya again :-) OK guys you'll need to tell me what "I am the token" means. Cinny I would not really go out of my way with a gift that will hit me hard for someone who is not in the same "circle" with me. If you must get something I would make it something local with no added stress. Save all that stressful energy for your own wedding. I hope I am not sounding selfish.

Thank you Cinny,....man I must sound dumb, over here which is mostly black and there is one "white" person in the group that person is reffered to as "Conchy-Joe" which is a really a lite skin Bahamian.
Cinny those places sound expensive - especially for someone who is not my friend. I've heard about Pier 1 and they do not sound expensive, I'd get her gift from there.

Anytime Charly...Just as long as you're here to help me decipher the island terms my neighbors across the street use. Micheal's isn't expensice at all; it's an arts 'n crafts store. The flute set is only $14.99. *shhhh, don't tell nobody* That's probably where I'll be going to get reception decor from with prices like-- gorgeous silk roses w/ the stems wrapped in satin ribbon tossing bouquet (looks good enough to use in the wedding): $6, arch (pre wrapped in tulle & lights): $30, silk flowers & plants: ranging from $.50-$7, satin flower girl basket: $5. Then they always have items (like the silk flowers & greenery on sale! I could go on and on, but I need to find a place to store this stuff first.

Girl I gat cha back :-).....I am loving this Michael place....she really should be getting the gift from there...Ya know what...why even bother buying a gift and you do not even know this woman like that...aren't they putting together in the office and getting one from the crew...I'd do that and they probably would only ask for $10 per person....her closer friends may buy individual gifts.

That's a good idea charley, but then she would be getting a group gift herself. Buy her something pretty and personal. Then you will get the same, Cinamin1.
This lady is retiring in June and my wedding's in December, so if she's a thoughtful woman, she'll get me something as well before she leaves (which I doubt). For some reason, I feel like she's going to forget about me when she retires. This is an office shower & another woman asked me if I wanted to go in with her on a gift. Another option! I don't know...Dazed & confused.

Your best bet is to purchase the gift with the lady....only as a jesture, do not expect a return (considering she is retiring) and do not go out of your way to buy something extremely expensive.

I love all things victorian. I think something small that will enhance her pre-existing items.

Charly, girl I hear you. I'll probably get her some toasting flutes from Micheal's or Party City. "Token" meaning the only black person in the group.

I bought her a nice bride/groom flute set at Party City on clearance for 9 bucks! So glad that's done.
