In Honor Of Those That are No Longer With Us

My husband and I wanted to find a way to honor my dad his mom and our grandmothers, during our renewal ceremony without it becoming sad. So after my mom is seated ( we are playing "ribbons in the sky" for this) my brother Channing will come in carrying 1 red rose and 4 yellow ones ( yellow in rememberance) he will then present my mom with the red one and then place the yellow ones in a special chair that we will have decorated and placed near the ceremony alter. My mother does not know that we are doing this. Also it will be explained in the programs and we are puting in a special " in memory of" page in the programs as well.

My plan is to have a memorial table with pictures of my dad, my grandparents (all 4), and 2 of his grandparents. I will have a pillar candle and the table decorated with small floral lights underneath a table cloth, and a small vase with a flower. Does that sound like too much? I'm also going to put something in the wedding program "in memory of"

Hi jay. This does nt sound like too much at all. I think it is great idea. As a matter of fact, I may borrow the picture thing. We are lighting a memorial candle that has the names on it. My dad is deceased and both of my fh parents are. His mom just going on a year ago, so I may include their pictures w/the candle to kinda represent that they are there w/us.

I'm thinking of having 1 different color rose in my bouquet. If it's mostly purple, I'll have one red or yellow rose in the mix. The programs will say the red (or yellow) rose is in loving memory of and then list the names.

I really like that idea for my mom, FH's dad, and my great grandmother. Especially the pics 'cuz i'm so proud of the family resemblance and so is FH.

Those are two very special and unique ways to honor your relatives.

Think of something that does not interrupt the happy feelings but will let guests know you remember those who have passed and are honoring them. I liked these ideas so much that I carried them in my store. They sell really well and people often are wowed when they are used.

  • Miniature Embossed Paper Photo Frames. Tie these around your bouquet and the bouquets of your bridal party. Place them as seat markers at the end of every pew or even on each chair. You can also tie them to the programs for an added flair and a sentimental touch!
  • A beautiful personalized vase or photo holder. You can place one on every table at the reception or on special tables at the ceremony site or just the sign-in table.
  • Wings of love Poertry cards. These cards feature a very subtle picture of angel wings in a warm gold color scheme and are finished off with a pin in the symbol of the Wings of Love Collection, angel wings in the shape of a heart.

Re: In Honor Of Those That are No Longer With Us

Both of fh parents are deceased. His dad died in June of this year and his mother Feb. of last year. We've decided to leave a chair empty with either a picture of the two of them or with roses to represent them. Since we are planning an outdoor ceremony we are releasing doves in honor of other deceased family members (my grandmother, one of his brothers, friends, etc.)
