How far are you in planning?

I decided to post this to get an idea if I am where I should be in the planning process. My wedding is August 5th, and this is what I have done so far:

1. Ordered, and stamped invitations (they still need to be addressed)
2. Paid off the limo company (wew hoo!)
3. Paid for 150 guests for reception (I'm not giving them any more money until I get a final count, but I know I'll have at least 150 guests)
4. Decided on centerpieces and purchased materials.
5. Ordered and received favors (they still need to be wrapped in tulle and have the name card attached)
6. Ordered and received misc. stuff like caker server set, toasting flutes, guest book, fg basket, rb pillow
7. Paid for dress, veil, jewelry, slip, tiara and shoes
8. Picked bm dresses and shoes, and gm tuxes.
9. Just purchased attendant gifts
10. Scheduled (but not paid for) rehearsal dinner
11. Put a deposit on chair covers and photographer/videographer
12. Put a deposit on our wedding bands.

I guess that's about it. Am I missing anything important that I should get out of the way asap? Maybe after reading your lists, I'll remember if I am forgetting something I should have done or should be doing.

Re: How far are you in planning?

My wedding is March 24,2007, I have yet to find a location and do any booking but I got alot of ideas.I'm getting the "small" stuff like flowers, invitations, favors, gifts, attendants, dresses, tuxedoes and other ideas out the way so that FH and I can look together at possible ceramony locations. I looked on theknot.com and they give you a overall month to month planner that may be useful to keep you on track.I still have a lot of planning to do but I get alot of great ideas from the ladies here.

Re: How far are you in planning?

We've ordered invitations, paid off the site for ceremony & reception, bought the dress, veil & shoes. Ordered favors & misc. stuff like cake serving set, toasting flutes, guest book, garters, rb pillow, pen & guest book, and unity candles. Paid for the DJ, photo/videography, officiant, and wedding bands. Picked out BM dresses and GM tuxes, centerpieces, bouquets/buttoniers, and type of cake *this stuff will be ordered next month*. Now we need to pay the deposit for chair covers & table linens . Then it'll be smooth sailing until November.

We have to buy as much as we can, because when we start taking on a mortgage, i'm sure it'll be difficult to juggle both. We're shooting to have everything paid for (or money put in the safe deposit box for other things- eg. tux rental, tips, final payments, etc.) by end of June. After that, we'll start house-hunting.

My wedding is Sept of 2007.

1) Picked out and put deposit down on ceremony/reception site
2) Booked Videographer
3) Booked Photographer
4) Booked DJ
5) Ordered and received wedding favors

I also have little nick nacks at the house - things I just picked up because I saw them and thought they were nice (but I don't know if I'm going to use some of them) lol

Girl, i'm trying not to buy stuff I won't use, but FH isn't helping me restrain. Target has this little $1 section and they messed up by making half of the dollar items: wedding related! I don't know if it's seasonal or what but they have stuff like favor boxes, Card boxes, candles, place cards, silk flower petals, confetti, etc...Check 'em out. FMIL called me & said she bought all kinds of cute stuff for the bridal party (like t-shirts that say BM/GM, tea lights, candles, silk flower petals, satin baggies & silk flower buttoniers for the ushers). Now she's good for buying stuff that she might not use.

Re: How far are you in planning?

Hi Ladies,

My wedding is 11/11/06. I have done the following

1) Ordered and received favors
2) Ordered wedding gown (Phenomenal Affairs - thanks Niquey)
3) Purchased attendant gifts
4) Compiled guest list
5) Ordered and received toasting flutes, guest book & pen, aisle
runner, FG basket, RB pillow, cake servers
6) Picked out BM/MOH dresses
7) Booked officiant
8) Decided on wedding bands (vow rings advertised on Vibride.com)
9) Decided on flower vendor (will be using silk flowers)
10) Decided on invitations
11) Ordered and received programs (blank) and thank you cards
12) Ordered and received unity candle and holder

The place where I wanted to have my reception, refused to take my deposit, because they are in the process of relocating. Now I am going crazy trying to find an affordable place in the NYC area. So if you ladies hear or know of something, let a sistah know.

Re: How far are you in planning?

Askalot no my wedding can be in NJ as well. I was trying to be considerate of my family that still lives in NY. But they can get to NJ too. I would certainly appreciate any information you have, thanks.

Re: How far are you in planning?

Okay, one more question. What price range pp do you want to spend? Buffet/sitdown? Open bar/cash bar? When is your date? If you don't want to answer the price per person question on the forum, just send me a note.

Re: How far are you in planning?

Buffet style. Cash Bar. November 11, 2006. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't even considered the price per price. I am embarrased to say that I am completely clueless. If I could get something between $40-45 pp that would be what I could afford. I know we probably wouldn't be able to find anything cheaper than that. We are working with a limited budget and have a guest list of 75-80 people. Askalot I really appreciate this. Thank you.
