I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

Hello Fellow Brides-To-BE,

My wedding is set for July 23, 2005. I need a theme. Can you ladies help me to figure out a good theme? My dress is white with a gold sash/train. Any good ideas? I had a friend just get married and her theme was something like..."Splash of carribean splendor in America" does it have to be that technical and does it need a title? I'm so confused.

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

Hi there! Well, my wedding is June 4, 2005 and our theme is lovebirds(doves). The story of the lovebirds goes like this: you will always see the male and female lovebirds together, because they cannot live without one another, LITERALLY! If one of the lovebirds die, the other dies as well because they cannot live without each other. That's the way my fiancee and I feel about one another which is why we chose that theme. Other possible themes are hearts, mardi gras, 70's theme. I'll forward more possible themes if I think of any. Hope this helps! Janis

You can do a title like "Mardi Gras in the Summer." And then you can have a beautiful wedding gown, and everyone wear those Mardi Gras Masks. I am a wedding planner and I did a wedding like this before. It was a great time and still so beautiful.....

First let me start by saying congratulations on your engagement. I am not currently a bride to be but I am a wife of ten years and also an event planner.

I think that sometimes we feel that we have to do what we see others do in order to make our own hopes and plans work, but the truth of the matter is that this is your and your fiances day and your wedding should reflect just that. Not to mention the fact that it is not always necessary nor practical to have a themed wedding.

I would suggest carrying the colors from your gown and sash and creating your own theme. Not only do the colors of White and Gold please the eye, they also create an atmoshphere of elegance as well as whimsy.

You would be surprised at how many different options you have that will not only help you stay within budget but also create the fairytale wedding that we (all women) dream of.

P.S. I would also suggest throwing in a few splashes of Red. (For that added pop of romance)

If you have any questions or need anymore ideas feel free to email me.

Good Luck and Congratulations.

Hello, I am recently married July 2, 2004 and I used the theme of "enchanted hearts". My wedding turned out beautifully and my invitations even had 2 platinum hearts inter-twined.

Hi Danamckenz

My wedding is coming up on Oct, 2nd. And my theme is a African Garden. Now I came up with the theme because i wanted to incorporate some of my roots anyway i could. Also because i love flowers. So i put the two together.....but you don't have to stress yourself over a theme. Most people have themes because it's part of what they love, or it has something to do with the couples first date, or part of thier personality and so on. It can be anything!!!!! Really. so save your stress, you are alittle early in the game to be stressed out now.....wait for later.

Good Luck and God bless

your theme should really depend on your personality. for instance, when we got married - 04/28/03, my theme was 'twilight celebration of love' because our ceremony didn't begin until 7pm and we decorated with floating candles...and i love that early evening time of day. so, give me a hint about your personality and things that you like. i will help as much as i can.

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

I recently got married June 5, 2004 and our theme was just basically centered around the color of the wedding which was apple red, and the bridesmaids dresses were apple red, the groomsmen tuxs were black with apple red ties and accessories my dress was white, but I carried a bouquet of red roses and daisy. The favors were apple red candles with apple red matchbooks and the reception hall was decorated in apple red and gold and guests were served off of gold servers. To me, I would suggest to you and your groom is to go with what you love and would love to look back on. Only you and your mate knows what will feel comfortable to you. I started off with several themes, but none felt right for us, even though they were great ideas. So go with a theme about your favorite hobbies, what you/he loves, favorite colors, place to visit, engagment site, etc. Good luck! Pecola

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

I agree with some of the ladies above. I think you should go with something personal to you and your fiance. The gold and white is going to be beautiful. You can always add splashes of orange for bright summer fun. They make orange calla lillies so if you incorporate that flower into the bouquets and floral arrangements is would be gorgeous. I am an event planner, but I'm also getting married in October of 2005. If you have any questions or need any planning ideas or advise, e-mail me, I will be glad to help. It's funny because I find it very easy to plan other peoples wedding(and I always wondered why brides get so stressed) but now that I'm planning my own, it's difficult some times to make decisions for yourself. But my advice about the theme is to not be pressured into something that you don't want or that's not really you. Go with your heart, ask for your fiance's input. Good Luck and Congrats!

How about, "A Celebration of Love" for your theme. With this theme you really want to make it a wedding that those attending will remember for years to come.

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

I am getting married in June and at first I had the same problem. So I decided to make it a beach theme wedding. What I did was think of some things that interest me and my groom. He loves the beach (seashell theme) and so do I therefore we decided to have a beach theme wedding. Think of things that you and your groom like to do or places that you like. A mardi gras wedding would be beautiful or either a garden theme wedding.

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

well first let me say that i'm 16 so i'm definetly not a bride yet but i LOVE weddings. When I finish college i want to start a wedding planning company in new york. I do alot of research on weddings just to get ideas. Well anyway you said your dress is white and gold so i think that a really good theme would be like "Romeo & Juliet" (except without the dying at the end lol) but what I'm saying is instead of having just a regular wedding you should have a ball. Like in the Victorin Age. I think red and gold would be really nice together. like on the tables you could gold vases with red roses in them. The table for the wedding party should have rose petals on it

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

My wedding is in May and colors are black and white. But your white and gold would work too! My fiance and I love jazz and old black and white movies. The theme we selected is Harlem Renaissance (excuse me if my spelling is off-I did a double shift at work today).

Here is the thing, I settled on everything very simple and ellegant. The Bride's maids are wearing orchids in their hair (Billy Holiday) and single orchads on their wrist. My centerpieces are tall vases that have feathers in them. And for the favors, each guest will receive a black and white photo of theirself. I have a pedastal and flower arrangement where they can take the picture.

We are both very excited. It should be nice. Just pick what you like and keep searching the web. You will be really surprised what you will come up with!

Good Luck and God Bless You!

Re: I NEED A THEME...HELPPPP!!!

A french court yard sounds absolutely romantic...it sounds like you should focus on the renaissance or victorian. Go to this site www. plussizebridal.com and look at style No. 42201. It's a Renaissance couture and it is fabulous. It's only an idea, just to give you somewhere to start from, Phenomonique can help you with dresses, just contact her.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
