Well I have finally found a website that I can actually talk to other black women on a positive note. I have searched and searched. I need help with my wedding plans. I want my bridesmaids to come down the aisle a little different. Here is an idea for those that also want the same thing. Have the groomsmen to give the bridesmaids their flowers as the walk down the aisle. They stood in a line and so did the bridesmaids and then the groomsmen handed them their flowers, the bridesmaids did a curtsey???? and then they proceeded to walk together down the aisle. It was nice. Since this happened at my sisters wedding I do not want to duplicate. Any suggestions?

Here is an idea.....I hope u understand this one.
Have your groomsmen walk all in a line from the alter whilst your girls come from the rear door. The first groomsman will pass the first bridesmaid and walk around her and loop his way around all the ladies until he gets to the very last bridesmaid, the groomsman in the back of him will do the same until he reaches to the lady in front of the last and so on. You know how you would drive around the cones at a driving test...well something to that affect. So the first groomsman will be the last bridesman escort and the best man would be in the back of the line to meet the maid of honor (who will be first in line). When they would all be in place they can then bow to the ladies, kiss there hands and then escort them to the alter. Of course this must all be at the same time sort of synchronized. This can be very beautiful if organized.
Have fun and I hope this makes sense to you.

I have the same challenge. I am NOT one for tradition! Here are a few ideas I saw while attending weddings. Hope this info helps or at least gets the ball rolling with ideas. 1) Have 3 rows (4 sections of sets), the bridesmaids walk down the right side, groomsmen walk down the left side (and meet in the front), the bride walks down the main aisle 2)The bridesmaids came in from the front side doors, walk UP the aisle (it was only 4 of them) collects the bride and escorts her down the aisle (the groomsmen & parents are already up front) 3)Each bridal party member come down unescorted (male/female/male/female etc...) this would work for a small crew. 4) I've also been to a wedding where the whole bridal party was ALREADY in the front (and we weren't late).... [go figure]

You seem to have it all worked out.:) When, where, and what are your colors?

Hey ladies...how are your girls entrance..Is it the traditional march or you have a twist of your own. These creative ladies always have something up there sleeves.

What about this.......have the groomsmen walk in a line from the front doors (with the bridesmaid's bouquet). Then, have the bridesmaids come down the aisle one by one with 3 single flowers in hand. As she walks down the aisle, have her drop the flowers one at a time. By the time she finishes dropping the flowers, a groomsmen will met her with her bouquet and escorts her to the front.
That sounds interesting but how about having them give the flowers to members of the bride and groom's family because if they drop flower down the isle....how does that affect the isle runner?

They will drop the flowers to the side so they don't get in the way of the aisle runner. The audience might pick them up.
That's interesting!

I don't know what I'm doing as yet. I am open to ideas, so ladies keep them coming!!!!

I like that idea of having bridemaids drop flowers as they walk down the aisle. (Especially since I'm contemplating not having a FG or RB.) We're not having any children at our wedding. So I didn't want them to be the only kids there.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.
Delight yourself also in the Lord & He shall give you all the desires of your heart.-Psalm 37:4
Since we have 20 attendants they will be coupled and will walk down together and go to opposite sides ending with the maid of honor and the best man closest to the bride and groom. So I have have guys and girls on both sides, not the traditional BM's on the left and GM's on the right.

I have yet to figure that out. I don't have any idea of how it will be done. Please keep the suggestions coming. There will be 1 main aisle (2 columns of seats). But, there are 6 doors that I could utilize (all on one side of the room).
Mine will all becoming down the middle aisle. I was told by photographer and videographer that it's easier to get them them all on picture and video if they are coming down one aisle instead of different aisles.

PB&J I like your idea of BM's and GM on both sides....you really have the volume to do that anyway. (20 wow girl!)

The Ceremony site that we have chosen has long cement walk way. Around about 30-60 feet unsure at this time. I was thinking that the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen roller-skate down the aisle. Decorate the skates with flowers. What do you ladies think?

Wow Diamonds, that is certainly a first. Your guest will remember that for years to come. Can everyone in your bridal party skate?

Y'know, it was really cool up until the part with the flowers! Then I got an image of one of the flowers falling off, getting caught up in the wheels, and sending the entire bridal party careening off into the guests on either side of the walkway!!! LOL
You may want to go the opposite direction on that in terms of production value. Draw attention *away* from the feet and towards the bodies themselves. That way the entire affair will look more magical -- they'd be floating instead of skating. Depending on whether this walkway is raised or not, you can use various techniques, like:
- A (very light) layer of ground mist. Fog machines are cheap to rent, but set aside some practice time before the event to get it working right;
- Judicious use of uplighting. Go for a soft, diffused look that leaves the feet & lower calves in shadow. Christmas rope lights would be an economical way to acheive this. Put them in channels to direct the light & create the shadow border at the bottom. Remember to dim the main lights a bit to maximize the effect.
Eloi, that is so cool. I can't believe you actually are posting! lol Now I have to be careful with what I write about you because obviously you are reading these too!

Diamonds, all I can say is wow! I am so glad I'm not one of your BM's because I can skate but I wouldn't be comfortable skating in a wedding. I know sometimes we have dreams but that is a little over the top. Have any of your BM's said anything? If not, that's awesome that their willing to do it.

They most definitely will....especially if one of the bridal party members end up in their lap.

Rosy, I love your hubby, cuz he thinks like me! Sick and Twisted! We do not fall, damn it, we careen!!!!! Awesome word usage!!!! This post made my day!!!!
Diamond, what the hell are you thinking!! Please stop the madness......

This is just tooo damn funny for me. I can only imagine me asking my BM/MOH to skate during the wedding. They will think I'm on some type of drugs! Diamonds, are you really serious? Or are you kidding? Do you really expect them to stand up during the whole ceremony in roller skates? What if someone falls and break an ankle or something? I just think it's too dangerous. What age range are your BM?

Boy I tell ya, some people! Can you imagine!! I wouldn't be able to focus on the bride, I'd be wondering 'um which looney tune thought this up?'
Not the memory you want for your big day.

Diamond I think thats a very very bad idea....Roller skate and wedding dont go together to me. I cant see the attendants NOT 'careening' down the aisle and ending up in the guests laps. I know I cant skate too well so I'm glad I'm not on of your attendants.I hope you will have insurance to pay for all the hospital bils you will be faced with by the end of the ceramony.
Diamond, I've come to the conclusion that you just wanted to read the reactions of your Vibride Sistahs. Are they really going to rollerskate?
God is good all the time and all the time God is good
I pray that now she has read our reactions and realize how absurd this sounds she will reconsider, Hell! even Rosy's husband Eloi who never says anything had to come out and voice his opinion.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
lol - yes Charly! I said as long as I've been up here, I've only seen him post 2 times, and this was one of them. lmao
OMG!!!! Eloi, Rosie's husband offered some excellent advice. Diamonds although you mean well, you definitely might want to reconsider. Sometimes the ladies are very direct with their responses, but they are usually right on point. Rosie you won't be in the corner alone.... I'm so tickled I just don't know what to do!!!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Diamonds, where are you? Please believe that we are not being mean like Rony said we mean well but a are very direct. It's nothing personal we are just looking out for each other by giving our honest opinion.

It's people who say nothing that you must worry about--they are the sly fox who will cut ya throat in a moments notice, only people who speak the truth mean you well--this is to be applied to your everyday life and a lesson for each of us here.

Wouldn't you rather us tell you these things, than to have folk snickering behind your back? We DON'T want that to happen to any of our sisters!

You guys I think we scared her away...Diamond where are you? I hope we did not offend you with our opinions....pleases forgive us if we have. Now that you know what we think what do you think?
I don't think she'll be back - unless she uses another name or just view as a guest.

Okay, I realize that I'm responding late but I really hope that you changed your mind on this.Consider the length of the BM dresses. This won't work with a full-length dress. Are the people in your wedding party good skaters?I mean everybody! All it takes is that one person that can't skate to either fall or run into someone or something.A disaster waiting to happen.
Born Blessed!
I'm speechless.

It was just a crazy idea. I would never ask my BM/or MOH to skate down the aisle I just throwing out ideas. Just looking for a good way to walk down the aisle. My BM would not skate down the aisle.
Thats good to know Diamond. I was getting worried for a minute there.... Gyrl I thought you lost your mind! But I see its just that school has got all your time so I will let that one pass, but no more dangerous ideas ok......?
Diamonds this is the place to through out your ideas. There is nothing wrong with that. The ladies here will give you their honest opinion. But we missed ya!

Ok, Ladies now that most of us are about finished with our planning let's help Seeker out by giving her some ideas or share how your bridal party will be walking down.
I have to revise my plan for their walk down the aisle. There will still be guys and girls on both sides but the guys will walk down the aisle two at a time, the BM's and 2 Matron's will walk down one at a time, my groom will come down theaisle with the 2 ministers in front of him, and his 3 BM and ring bearer and broom bearer behind him. After they come in the MOH will enter, the FG's and then me. We wanted to do something nontraditional.
