Screaming LOL!!!! I'm sorry -I should have said for our honeymoon ...for an example we don't want to go to Bermuda or anywhere else outside of the US ....
With Beaches:
1. Key West, FL (great for Scuba!)
2. Sanibel or Marco Island, (Near Ft. Myers), FL
3. Savannah, Ga (Beautiful landscape, Bed & Breakfast, Restaraunts-Paula Dean!)
4. Ft. Lauderdale or Miami (Pvt Beach/Shopping/Restauraunts, Museums)
5. San Francisco?
6. California Beaches
7. Hilton Head, South Carolina (Big vacation Spot for the rich)
8. The Hamptons
9. Destin, FL (My honeymoon spot! Plenty of beautiful teal-blue clear water!-Pvt beach areas)
10. Palm Beach, or Boca Raton, FL (within miles of each other)
All of these places have premium shopping opportunities
Non-Beach Areas/ Possible Tourist and/or Big Shopping opportunities with Museums, (theme or national) parks, theatres, galleries
1. NYC, NY
2. Chicago, IL
3. Las Vegas
4. Grand Canyon
5. Orlando, FL
6. Seattle, WA
7. Atlanta, GA
8. Alaskan Cruise...but it may be late for booking
Book now and lock in off-season prices! If you go to any beachy area, you are sure to get off season....I see you live in Maryland, so check for nice romantic B&B's along the VA, NC/SC, GA Coast for quick driving, and romantic opportunities.
Turiya, I hope you choose Florida. Being a native Floridian, I love my home state. I believe you will find all you need in Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach and oh, have you considered the Amelia Islands?
Turiya girl don't you come to Chicago in December! You'll freeze your tail off if you finally make it out the airport! LOL!
Lovin' Bumble's other suggestion. Thinking of Destin, FL or Savannah, GA for our HM.
Oh goodness! I wrote down Chicago before I looked and saw she's getting married in December....okay, and unless you like NY, stay away from there too!
How about Hawaii? You could take a cruise and visit all the major islands. My FMI & her sisters are doing this trip Nov.3, 2007. Also my cousin & his wife did the same cruise last year for their honeymoon. Take a look at this site www.Hawaii-aloha.com. Also you might check with a travel agent they might have a few good ideas. Good Luck!
Before you travel check out TripAdvisor.com. Lots of great information about the area your visiting, the hotels and members even post helpful reviews/photos. Check it out! I don't travel without checking with my Trip Advisor friends. :)

Lol! Don't feel bad. I thought that was what the topic about. I live in Florida so I would recommend Amelia Island, Clearwater, Destin, or Panama City.
I honeymooned in Destin during our Spring Break. It was beautuful in March. The rates were still low, and there are outlet malls (Coach, Dooney and Bourke, etc) for shopping. Our hotel was right across from the beach so we had a nice view of it from our suite. I recommend it because there are lots of attractions, shows, and restaurants. Also, all the students went to Panama City that week for Spring Break so it was super quiet on the beaches!
I've never been to Savannah but its on my list of places to go. I have been wanting to visit Paula Dean's famous restaraunt and stay at a cozy, romantic Bed and Breakfast. I heard there are lots of attractions and nice restaurants too...
Hilton Head Island, SC is about 45 minutes north of Savannah and BEAUTIFUL. My son lives there and I love it.
Mackinaw Island, Michigan is beautiful. Well just about any place in Northern Michigan. Taverse City, MI is a great spot.
Oops scatch the Michigan destinations; for the same reasons FutureMrsKeepUp gave.
We did want to do Florida ...but we did a black folk move ...and now we 2 months out trying to book something. :( Has anybody been to the Poconos?
We haven't been ANYWHERE before -so what's to do in Savannah ...imma check rates now for them ...
I LOVE the Magic Kingdom in Disney World Orlando. I have a timeshare there and we go several times a year. Love it.
Consider Puerto Rico, St.Thomas, St.John, or St.Croix. They are exotic and there is no passport required. Also there are great package deals all the time!
We just might stay in the states as well. I want to stay a week somewhere and venturing out will be financially out of the question. Miami and the Florida Keys will be ideal at the moment.
You could also to Boca Raton, FL in Palm Beach....I stayed at this luxury resort hotel (thats the brand) in Boca for a Conference last month! I have been itching to go back! Next time I won't tell my mom cause she lives in that area and insisted on seeing me, therefore cutting out my personal spa time...Go for the ritual bath in their Spa: its 35.00 with your stay. Its a 10 minute walk to the beach! Boca Raton Resort and Club
Another Luxury Hotel Brand is on the West Coast in the Naples area...
The conference will be there next year! And so will I!
BTW...Its New! Naples grande Resort
The Luxury Hotel Company has many other Hotels in FL and around the US. I definitely recommend Boca. Its a HUGE resort with lots to do, and its tucked away near a beautiful rich residential area, and near a bevy of restaraunts and eateries. They have their spa (which their ritual baths are one of a kind, and are not found in any other hotel in FL. Trust me, I checked. The Red Door Elizabeth Arden Salon and Spa doesn't even have one....The pic on the website of the girl in the bath of roses, thats part of the ritual baths, but minus the roses, but definitely the satisfaction!
hello all,
Well why not Hawaii then, it certainly qualifies and is so lovely. Or do you mean the continental US only?
I plan to go to Hawaii and be married there, then enjoy the honeymoon time there too. That way all the travel is already done, and the fun begins sooner!
Planning a wedding is hard, but planning honeymoon is twice as hard. It is so because of the so many opportunities and even more places that you want to visit, but I think none of them is not The One.
It’s because you are just looking for the perfect honeymoon vacation spot and you fear not to choose the wrong
one. The honeymoon should be a romantic getaway to sunny and exotic island, where time has stopped. It is forbidden to think about work and schedules.
