Invitation Drama

So, I decided to make my own invitations for our engagement party. It was a nightmare. It took forever for us to find the card stock and vellum we wanted to use. At Kinko's we had to pay for cutting down the card stock and vellum and then it took hours to assembly the invitations by hole punching the top and attaching the vellum. It only cost 35 dollars and we have about 80 invitations. So, that's only about 43 cents a piece. And, though homemade, they are beautiful. The good news is that my fiance and I really got a chance to bond by picking them out, spending an hour in Kinko's and then making them at home. So, what do you ladies think about doing this crafty stuff for the wedding. Does it make more sense to buy the invitation kits or just pay to have invitations printed elsewhere? Is it worth it?

Well there are advantages and disadvantages...like you said it gave you an opportunity to bond and spend some quality time together, you saved a bundle of money and you made exactly what you wanted or had invisioned....the disadvantage is that it is time consuming...to someone that is impatient this would not be a good route to take but yours turned out for the better and you should be proud of yourselves. Congratulations. you and your sweetie.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

Southernthoughts, I made mine too, and enjoyed every minute of it. And if I say so myself, they looked very nice :-). The highlight was when my sweetie told me how beautiful they looked, and how proud he was of me for taking on so much alone. He often said that he wished that he could be of more help, but he is not crafty, but it gave us a chance to bond in a special way too.

Blessed be the Lord my strength ......

SouthernThoughts and 2ndTime, I think that making your own invitations proved to be a good thing. You placed a piece of yourself in each of those invitations. You also bonded with your sweeties -- that itself is worth so much. I have opted to purchase my invitations from Annsweddings.com. I am not crafty and neither is my sweetie. I wish I was, but that is not my gift. I am still praying for some patience too -- you need a lot of patience to take on such a project (lol). Congratulations to you both!

Rhonda, God made is all very special in different ways. I have always enjoyed creating since I was a child to the point that I am seriously thinking about becoming a wedding consultant (starting with my daughter's ceremony). Pray for me.

Blessed be the Lord my strength ......

It's so nice when they get involved! When I first started event planning my hubby just thought 'okay more stuff in my way after a hard day at work'. But after seeing everything in place he was blown away. Now anything I do he has 2 cents to put in to it. I love it. I make invitations all the time, he even purchase a paper trimmer for me. It's a good investment ladies! I even made my own flyers and business cards!
