Do you think it is appropriate for the bride to speak during the reception - you know where the groom comes on and says "On behalf of my Wife and I".....I wanted to speak - cause seriously ya'll know I always have something to say :-)

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
Speak sister, speak. It's what you make it, so if you want to say something, go for it.
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
It is your day Charly, if you want to speak (or preach lol) then do it. Traditions are made each and every day, so start your own!

Of course, Charley! Actually it is expected. Some brides are just really overwhelmed or even dog tired girl! Just wait and see if you feel like saying a DAMN THING! lol

I didn't know the groom &/or bride actually says something. lol (DON'T ASK WHERE I HAVE BEEN). When do we (he) say something. Cause I know right now, after all of the smiling and walking and planning, I'm probably not goign to want to give a speech. And FH isn't the "talkative" type. Lawd hammersey!!! Help me yall!!!
I will have to ask my FH to give me some time to talk, because he is always talking (he's a teacher by profession, so I guess he can't help it). Askalot, yall will be fine!

That is why I asked if it was appropriate - all of the weddings I went to including my first only the groom spoke and I really wanted to change tradition because I have my own thoughts as well - BUT! I don't want to step on any corns in the process.

speak at your wedding i spoke at my wedding and all the guest were shocks cause the groom usally speaks for both of you. so i say speak on your won behalf, and then you and your groom can speak together, remember be your own person dont get lost in your husbands words or throughts, you are still 2 different people but you share 1 heart. speak girl speak
OK. I have NEVER heard of the groom having to speak for BOT of you. You may defer to your new husband to show how supportive and sweet you are, but by all means stand up together and welcome your guests together. It is not a big deal and it will show your unity.

Rosey at all the weddings I've attended, there is a section after the "toast to whomever" that the groom speaks-- as a matter of fact it is part of the program and his first words are..."On behalf of my wife and I...." - this is when the room comes alive with cheering.
