Good morning :). Having helped coordinate a couple of my friend's weddings esepcially on the day of the wedding, I truly did not realize how crazy planning a wedding actually was; it has been 10 years since I was a bride. Our original ceremony was very small and we had a family style reception with food that was cooked by both sides of our families and now I am in the midst of planning our renewal vow ceremony and I'm about to lose my mind! Can anyone from the Chicago area refer me to a great wedding coordinator???
Always,
Kwame(just as an aside I am the only African-American woman with the name in the U.S)

It's so exciting when I hear my brides talk about a vow renewal! Things have not changed so much in the last 10 years but I know it can be insane. First, don't panic. THere are a few brides planning their renewal on here and two it is so cool that you are the only female Kwame! My daughter's name is Ford, this is usually a boiys name although it is unisex (or a car, lol). I will let the others know what you want.

That's beautiful planning to re-new your vows. I cannot get my husband to re-new our vows. I've been so hurt over this. Maybe I'm making to much out of this wedding. Having a Vow Renewal is never far from my mind. My dress is in my closet. I guess I'll wear my gown in my casket. Our 10th Anniversary is in October. I feel so shattered. Congraulation. Your Husband understands.

I know one her name is Gerri. Give me an email address so I can pass it on to her. Mrs_H your story breaks my heart.

Hi Kwame, send me a note if you still need help :)
Mrs_H: Has he said WHY he does not want to renew his vows? Sometimes men or weomen feel it unnecessary as their love is still the same. Or they may think that others will think something wrong with your marraige and that makes them uncomfortable. Finding out what is wrong could help you change his mind.

Yes, Somewhat. First it cost too much. Next why bother. His family sorry his mother thinks it's stupid. I look at him different now. He knows that he promised if we were married for 5 years we would re-new. I'm not letting go of my dress. I'll wear it in a coffin first.
Mrs_H why does his mother feel that it's stupid? And did you have a big shindig in mind that he'd think it cost to much?

I married her only son. We have never liked each other, I tolerate her for my husband. Yes I'm planning a nice ceremony and reception. I've decided that Oct.28th 2006 this will happen. I'm buying everything now. I'm saving a lot of money also. It's really sad that the riff in between me and his mom. 2 of the people that was going to be in the wedding is now dead. My memorial list is getting longer. The total cost for everything is 3,500. That is cheap
Are they from the south, because southern moms don't let go of the 'baby boy' too easy. So he decided to renew the vows?

Oct 2006, Is he okay with that date?
Mrs_H...you need to ensure he is ok with the date because the last thing you want is to pay out money that may not be refundable and he is not OK with a renewal ceremony....I noticed you said "I've decided on October 28th 2006 this will happen" it has to be decided by both of you.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
