Hi, me and my Fiance are thinking to do jump the broom on our way out of the church, I amn't really familier with this custom, well I know the meaning of it which is why I want to do it, but I have no idea how, has anyone done this or are planning to do it, please let me know. Thanks

My husband to be and I are also jumping the broom. From all the weddings I've been too it all seems to take place after the pronouncement. After the Minister pronouces you husband & wife, you kiss and he/she presents you to the audience you turn to leave and jump the broom. I have my neice carrying my broom and she knows to place it on the floor after her we turn to leave. My HTB wants to carry the broom out as we walk the aisle to form the receiving line. We have a small "broom jumping history" written and inserted in the program for those that may be new to the custom.

I, too, am planning on incorporating this into my ceremony; but I plann to do it as we enter the reception which we're planning on holding in the African american Museum of Art. Some ministers and churches don't allow this ceremony.

Hi,
My fiance and I will also jump the broom. We will do this right before we kiss. If you are looking for more information on Jumping the Broom check out this site.
Good luck
we are jumbing the broom at the reception. we are having the bridal party introduced and they will line up on either side and hold a hand in the air to make an "archway" for us and we will walk through our bridal party then jump the broom as the introduce us.
My Prayer: Dear God, get me to that altar in one piece with my brain in tact!!!! Only 7 weeks and counting....
