I already asked my friend to let her son (who is my little cousin) be the ring bearer and she agreed. Now, FH wants his little cousin to be the ring bearer (which I really would rather for him to be it anyway). My question is, what title can I give the first little boy if I want him to carry the broom?

I've heard people use "page" or "pageboy" for the little boys that carry the brooms.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

I've heard the same thing. The good part about it you can even make up something if you can't find something that you are comfortable with. I decided to call my daughter "Princess BridesMaid" because she's not my maid of honor, and I didn't want her to be a regular bridesmaid.

You can call him a "broom bearer" or a cherub.....I also like Cinny's idea :-)

Now Cherub is nice. I like that.

I'm sure that the mother wouldn't mind as long as her son still gets to participate in the wedding.:-)

Did anyone take the time to look up the definition of Cherub? I didn't know what it meant so I looked it up.
I like Broom Bearer.
Isn't a "page" or "pageboy" the one who rings the bell? I'm not sure.

Good point Marshine. I went to dictionary.com and this is what it said: Cherub n. 1. cherubim pl. a. A winged celestial being b. cherubim. The second of the nine orders of angels in medieval angelology. 2. cherubs pl. a. A representation of a small angel, portrayed as a child with a chubby rosy face. b. A person, especially a child, with an innocent or chubby face.

I called mine the Broom's Guardian Angel. Sounds corney but it when over so well.
My other opinion is...whatever you chose will be nice.

I agree.

If I decide to jump the broom he will be called a broom bearer. However, I'm leaning toward having a bell ringer instead.

So what's the problem with the definitions.....don't you think it is appropriate for a boy????

Not a problem. I was just responding to Marshine's question on if anyone had looked up the definition. Cherub is fitting for a boy or a girl.

Actually Rony this question was really directed towards Marshy....I was wondering if she had a problem with it and why???

Non verbal communication can make the mind think differently than what is intended. It appears to have happened in this case.
All I did was ask a question.
I'm a very positive and blessed individual.
Many peope have told me they love my spirit. Whatever negative connotation you picked up from that question please cast it away because it was not put there by me.
I'm blessed to have my Vibride sisters.

Yes Ms. Marshine you are a very blessed and positive individual! I like your style! Be blessed my sister. Love ya.

I like the idea of cherub being the offical title on the program. Seeif you can find a sort of figurine in your accent color to place on the broom along with the ribbon to reenforce the cherub title.
Luv ya too. Always smiling, Marshy.

ok, i personally like broom bearer, its the first thought that came to my mind... you guys are such an interactive group, i feel almost akward coming in like this... like someone having a private conversation and then all of a sudden i just waltz on over and try to get in it.

Have one of them carry a white (wedding) bible. The pastor signs it to dedicate it to you and your husband.
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
In the movie the Best Man in the credits they label the little boy who carriers the broom as a "broom bearer".

MsLee, welcome to the boards. We are nothing but one big happy family here! We butt into other people's business all the time here. lol But, seriously, this is what the forums were created for. Everyone here offers everyone advice. Please don't hesitate to post on any subject here. Also, had you not posted, I wouldn't even known that's what they called the little boy in the "Best Man" credits.
Niquey, that's a great idea, but the pastor that I'll be using will give us a bible as a gift. Please let me know if anything else comes across that wonderful mind of yours! :-)
Ok ladies, I have a similar situation now, so I am just going to ride in on this thread.
FH's neice wasn't included in the wedding party initially, and now I feel bad. No one has made a fuss about it, but the more I think about it, the more I think her feelings will be hurt when she see's some of the other kids of the family in the wedding party. She is eight years old.
I thought about buying her a pretty white dress from Macy's or something, and having her walk the broom down for us. Would it be ok to do this since she is a girl? If so, what would I call HER?
*If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything*
I love that idea Niquey!

i think this is an excellent idea... i don't think there is any written rule that says the broom bearer HAD to be a male. It is your wedding and you have license to do as you please and create your own customs and traditions. If your broom is decorated with ribbons the color of your wedding in addition to her white dress tie some ribbon to her hair and around her waist... she will feel very included.
