Hey ladies, I was rambling on and on about the wedding, like I sometimes do with a good friend of mine. Well when I got off the phone, my FH said to me. Honey can I say something to you. He said, it's my day too. I'm getting married too, although I don't talk about it as much as you do I am very much excited about our wedding day. I tell you I was elated!!!! Just a few months ago, he didn't seem to be too enthusiastic about anything. With ten months to go, my Mr. Right is stepping up to the plate! I am so happy. I said all of that to say this, ladies let's not forget that it's their day too! Wishing all of the ViBrides the very best in their planning!

I know. At one time my FH was "whatever you want" now he's putting more than his two cents in even down to the decorations! He's been calling reception halls, getting prices on limos, & 'tux shopping'. I have my dress, now he's trying to figure out what kind of tux he wants. Its so sweet he's actually helping! Love that man!
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Cinamin1, gurl you got a sistah cracking up over here! "...now he's putting more than his two cents in" -- too funny. Doesn't it just make you feel sooooo good when they actually take an interest. I am elated, becaue when we first got engaged he was acting like he wasn't interested, now he's telling me it's my day too. I love my wonderful man!!!!!

I am also just as thrilled as you ladies. My FH and I went to a bridal show on yesterday and the first thing he wanted to do was go get the coupon to use to get discounts on all the guys' tuxedos. He's doing a great job in getting things in order that he's currently in charge of. And I know I can be a control freak but I'm really trusting him in handling everything involving the guys' attire, honeymoon, rental car, rehearsal dinner, etc. So I can't help but to be cheesing as well.
4 months to go!!

Oh my goodness your FH went to a bridal show, gurrrrrl I'm cheesing with you too, I'm about to fall off my chair!

I am happy for you ladies. Now, can you give me your FH's names and numbers so mine can call them. Maybe they can rub off on him. We have four months left and still no interest. He's gotten a little better...like before when I used to talk about some of the details, you could see the "I don't care" look on his face, now he has the "oh really???" look...LOL...Gotta love him.
Nlbostic, the "oh really" look is progress girlfriend. What are we gonna do, these men are too much!!!!!

Ya'll got me cracking up. He was excited to go the bridal show but you better believe that once he got the coupon he wanted... he was ready to go!!

My fh hasn't been bitten by that bug yet. I told him this is like folks that don't vote. If you don't vote for who you want you can't complain about who you get.
OK I feel you on that L_evet no vote
=no voice . MY FH has no ideas on what he wants for our wedding and is always complaining about what I pick. At first he says "whatever you want is fine" but when I tell him he says its too much or too expensive. I'm willing to compromise to a certain extent but HOW DO YOU GET THEM INVOLVED WITH THE WHOLE THING?Underlined Text . How can I make him see that yes it is his day too and he should have some say in it besides its too expensive?
Congratualtions ladies...but ya'll must remember men are not emotional beings......they will come around but only as the day draws nearer, they think they have all the time in the world and we women be making a fuss over nothing....ya gatta love cause they do not know better and that is why God put women here to stare them in the rigt direction.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
I dunno sister Charlotte, I might have to disagree with your standpoint that men aren't emotional beings...I'll amend it (if you don't mind) to they just don't express their emotions the way we do. I agree with you abt steering them in the right direction tho...what I found worked very well with my husband was specific and targeted tasks. He was very interested and wanted to play an active role but he admitted that he couldn't come up with ideas and it left him feeling inadequate so he'd just step aside and leave it to me...which off course led me to thinking he just didn't care. We eventually talked and came to the agreement that I'd make out a list of tasks and he'd sytematically get them taken care of. Incidentally, this system is STILL in effect in our home even after the wedding...LOL They may not get as giddy over some details like we tend to do but I think most men have had an idea of what their wedding would be like.

Ana I guess it varies....when I say they are not emotional....I mean - We as women we think with our Hearts and men think with Heads.

No matter how you see it, ya gotta love 'em!

I know then that I must have a looooooong way to go before the bug bites my FH. Nlbostic, my FH is the same way your FH was at the beginning - this I don't care look. It used to upset me because I was like "Well we shouldn't have set a date if you're not interested in the wedding". Now, I don't even waste my time asking. Then, if I'm on the phone discussing it (he's all in my conversation), he'll say, you didn't tell me about that. I can't win!!! lol But, I definately can't wait for the bug to bite him - but we still have over a year to go.
My FH is just as involved as I am. If I make a decision with out talking to him about it he says "you're not marrying yourself". And he is right.

DW you have yourself a jewel -- LOL. My FH was slow in coming around, but he did eventually.

He is great but I am the type of person that likes to make decisions on the spot! (I guess it's good I can't or else I would be in a world of trouble!)
It is refreshing to see them give some input about the wedding. I was going to create a whole new topic until I saw this.
I want a colored bustled skirt, something in our themed green color. The white/ivory dresses are beautiful and all, but I felt that it's not "me". A moment ago, I was putting together a color separates bridesmaid outfit at AlfredAngelos.com. I showed him this:
The skirt actually looks more like this:
In the past, whenever I threw an idea out to him, his reaction was "Whatever you want to do", or "Guys aren't about this." and "Do your thing". We've been to a couple of bridal shows where he only goes to taste the cake vendor's cakes, then remained detached through the rest of the tour.... But when I showed him this dress, he gave me a "Hell Naw!" Then he took me by the hand, said he loved me and gave me a short lecture that almost left me with a tear in my eye. It was something like, "I know that you like to do things differently and I love that about you, but please be traditional for this wedding."
So for him, I'll try to do just that. I still feel a part of me that REALLY want a colored bustled skirt. *sigh*
Butter-this is actually the color my bridesmaids are wearing (pistachio) so I love this color! BUT if he wants you in traditional why not get a gown w/this color in it; AA have quite a few gowns with a "splash" of color; I am adding a pistachio sash to my ivory dress to give it some color, so I understand how you feel about being "different" :)(which by the way I am getting from AA)
The other colored dresses only have colored ribbons or enbroidering. I want the whole skirt...actually, my dream dress would be like Gwen Stefani's except dipped in green and not so much fabric.

That is very pretty and different, but you will probably have to have that one made..do you think FH would be ok with color or does he want you to go straight traditional???

Butterbean, Girl I like your style!!! I love to see brides doing their own thing. Trendsetters, that's what I'm taking about.

Thanks Pam!
Yeah Soon, I've decided on just getting a bridal "Dream in Color" AA dresses. My sister said that I would be looking like a lost bridesmaid in the dress that I chose. LOL. Plus, I don't imagine a seamstress charging me less than the $600 I'm willing to spend for that dress.

Good for you! have you picked out one yet? you know we sistahs want to see it! :)
My wedding wont be until next March, so I will wait until September to see what's out there. I've heard plenty of horror stories about bridal shops discontinuing dresses.
