Maiden/Married Names

All I can say ladies is....it could be worse. My first name is hyphenated & I still want to hyphenate my last name. 4 names...how unique...NOT! But then again, Weber-Robinson doesn't really flow either, so I'm kinda up in the air. Has anyone ever seen a man take his bride's last name? Ha ha ha ....sure would be easier. I swear they have it so easy!

I think that Webber-Robinson flows well. I think that we are just attached to our names because they've been a part of us so long. And yes, they do have it made.

I am not sure of what I want to do. My first name is already long. My Name is Threjolyn Hill. So if I hyphenate it will be Threjolyn Hill-Tolden. I think I am just going to use my married name because my children last name is tolden and my email have that last name already. So I will be Mrs. Threjolyn Tolden

at this moment i will be mrs. lee. but who knows, i may change my mind and hyphenate

I like hyphanates! ( I KNOW I spelled that wrong!} So I never think they are too long. Just elegant. Now if only the GUBBERMENT would give more room to write our names we would "be cooking with gas"!

When they said take your husband's name originally it meant taking his ENTIRE name. I would no longer be rosetta. Just Mrs. Eloi George or Simply Mrs. George. No other name in public! We done come a LOOOOOOOG way! lol

Furure look at you clowning my name when you got like 4 of them....My whole name would be L'Kiesha Dionne Edwards-Randolph...I bet you can say that 3 times fast...lol Its actually not as bad as most names I've heard. My nephews I watch are Christopher, Jonathan and Melvin all have the same ending....ready Eugene Kirkwood-Randolph....How ugly is that? all 3 of them HAD to get the dad's middle and last name.Now he wants to change it and just put Randolph but thats his legal name. And my MOH,their mom, is Tanisha Marie Perkins Kirkwood-Randolph.

i was wondering where u were yesterday. Yeah man, I have 4 names that second middle name is a bit unneccesary.

I am very much changing my name so I can remove my father completely from my life. I am not hyphenating it cuz I do not like that.

I was born with a hyphenated name (not mother-father but mother-grandfather) so i can't wait to get rid of it. Ever since i was old enough to hook a bra, people been asking me "are you married" UHM no, i'm a little girl, or no, i'm a sophomore in high school, etc. so i'm ready to say goodbye to two american names and say hello to one zimbabwean one. i would tell you what they are but both of our families are well known locally and we haven't announced the engagement yet. i'd hate to get an irate phone call after somebody decides to "google" me.

I am going from one american name to the next. I am not sure I would take his name if my man had an usual name. Would you ladies ? My co-worker has an usual married name and I always joke that they should have taken her name. We always laugh about it!

LOL! I am not excited about my fh last name. I am still debating if I should keep my name or use his.

My entire name consists of three very common names and I do not know if I could get used to not being able to find my name on license plates at souvenir shops and stuff, but that is me. You can always hyphenate it but hide it from your man. I know a women who did that because she did not want to end up at the end of the alphabet!

I do not understand when women who hate their fathers insist on hyphenating their names. I have a girlfriend who dislikes her dad as much as I dislike mine and insists that she is going to hyphenate her name and give the kids both her and her man's names. If I was not getting married, I would just change my name cuz I really do not like my father.
