Have you considered your PRESCRIPTIVES counter? I know it sounds odd to suggest, but I am caribbean so my skin tone is medium to dark brown and my under tone is yellow orange! Flori Roberts, Clinique even Iman lines did not match my skin like custom blend PRESCRIPTIVES. Also, they tend to have actual make up artists behind the counter at Saks and the larger high end department stores. Go in a few months before your wedding and get a full treatment. it's free to try and I know they will win you over.
Rosetta I'm bringing this topic back up because I have a question about myself and make up. Now I have decided that I am going to do the make about thing but you see I don't do it on a regular day bases so I know at first it's going to a little different. I don't want to be overly done up if you know what I mean. I've been to the counters for some of those department stores and they do a good job but later that same make up feels like it's heavy. So basicly I would like to know how to go about telling the make up artist that I want to look fla-less with as limited amount of make up as possible.
I know what you mean. It can be even more difficult for black skin. We come with so many shades and then there are undertones! Let the make up artist know that you will only buy a few things. This way you can avoid getting up sold! I would avoid Fashion Fair and Flori Roberts. They are way too heavy. Black Opal is ok, but you look made up. That said, if you go to the counter and they are snuibbing you, pick your black butt up and go to the next counter. Take your time and take a whole day if possible. You have a right not to look like a hooker on your wedding day. My cousin looked a little like a freak on her wedding day. Goth-like eye shadow. EWWWWWW! You really have to test out new looks. WAY BEFORE THE BIG DAY. It's the best advioce I can give.
Rosetta thank you!! I know what you mean about people at the counters turning their noses up just cause you sat in their chair and told them exactly what you like and dislike. See I'm a tom boy for real and I play basketball so need less to say I'm used to rubbing my face and especially my eyes. I just want to make sure that I don't feel like i'm wearing 2 extra layers of face over the one I already have. You know what I mean?!!!
My wedding is 8/13/05. I have been searching for a make up artist in Atlanta that specializes in dark skin. Any recommendations?
