Make your wedding more Romantic

Just because it's a wedding doesn't mean it is romantic. One idea is to />write your vows & tell your future life partner how you feel about them. Tell them how much you love them, why you love them and how you can't wait to begin your lives together. If you want to go with the traditional vows just say one special line to each other.

What are some of the ways you will make your wedding more romantic?

And again you are right on the ball Rosey...you are so correct when you say "Just because it's a wedding doesn't mean it is romantic"...I like the idea of writing your own vows, you can pour so much of yourself into words and express them while looking at you soon-to-be's eyes it front of loved ones.... I am not sure if it is allowed...I guess I will have to ask my archdeacon...he is so strict.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

Gazing into each others eyes for 5 mins.

Maybe he will let you add a line or two to the traditionsl vows, Charley.

Did you know that Quaker weddings is simply a couple standing before every member of their community and looking into each other's eyes for an hour. It is so moving that the couple is crying and the congregation is crying before it is over. It allows everyone to feel God in their love! I think staring into their eyes while thinking about how much you love them is a great way to make a wedding romantic. We would have to keep it down to 5 mins though. lol. You could make mention of it in the program so that the congration doesn't think you're crazy!

Rosey to be with honest with you I can not handle that...I cry at the thought of being in love...I cried getting ready, I cried going into the car and now after all these years and already divorced people still refer to me at the crying bride.....there is absolutely no way I can stand there and steer into his eyes...I will definitely pass out...I am just an emotional mess to be honest with you.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

Re: Make your wedding more Romantic

I was thinking about havng my best man and matron of honor toss flowers over HF and I as we take our firts kiss as husban and wife. I thought that would be so cute and different for people to see,And it will also make a beautiful picture. Also if I cant have bubble in the place I will be using (still looking) I will have the guest toss silk rose petals as we make our exit.....And if I dont have a reception (not sure but pushing for it) I want to have our first dance down the aisle or at the alter. I have so many ideas I just cant make up my mind what I want to do......

FH and I are writing our own vows. I think that is one of the most romantic was of showing each other and our guests how much we truly love each other.

Re: Make your wedding more Romantic

I like to think romance is all in the ambiance and personal touches so several factors can play a role. For example, the music, flowers, candles and especially the vows. One idea that I thought was great, my brother saved some material from the alterations on his suit and had a hanky made for his wife (she's a crier!) and then dried her tears as they were saying their vows. Guess I'm kinda sappy like that!

Re: Make your wedding more Romantic

I'm months late on this one but... so what (haha), ok, some insight into me... when I am stressed, depressed, sad, and frustrated with school, work, and people I run away... I go to my 'quiet place' - where I go to cry - which is the beach either La Jolla or Mission Beach(San Diego, CA) or Palos Verdes(LA, CA). The way I am making our wedding more romantic is by having the ceremony in one of these two places. It is my way of bringing him into that one part of my life that I have always kept private from everyone, including him. Whenever I need to think I need to be by the beach - water makes me feel better. Its my way of truly unifying and bringing him into my most sacred space.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda

That is very beautiful. You are bringing me to tears. Send me a plane ticket so I can go to one of those locations and cry.

Re: Make your wedding more Romantic

The most important thing to us was having a romantic and intimate wedding ceremony. To achieve this, we had a small sunset ceremony near the sea under a gazebo that was decorated with the most beautiful flowing tropical flowers. I specified to the florist that we did not want the traditional arch. The steel panist played, "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis Presley as my Ladies of Honor walked down the aisle and the solist sang "When I Fall in Love" by Nat King Cole as my father, mother, and I walked down the aisle. I wore a flowing organza gown, while my ladies of honor wore flowing watermelon pink chiffon dresses. I was admant about us not wearing satin or tafetta. I wanted fabric that floated on air. Even my mother wore a flowing organza dress. We wore romantic curls in our hair and jewelry that draped on our necks. I also wore my veil with blusher which added an air of mystery. My groom and I looked each other in the eyes while we exchanged our own personally written vows in addition to the traditional vows, and we had a unity sand ceremony as well. During the recessional, our guests showered us with fragrant preserved rose petals that matched our wedding colors.

Re: Make your wedding more Romantic

For our ceremony, we made it more romantic by doing very minimal decor in the church. The church has floor to ceiling windows which made the natural light add to the scenery. Instead of an aisle runner we did the aisle lined with white and cream rose petals to create a path and the area we stood was sprinkled with rose petals....We had our unity candle...the middle large candle had a Jasmine fragrance, and the 2 side candles were non-fragrant, we also did took communion, and kneeled next to each other instead of facing each other which I think was nice....But it did have a garden feel and it was late spring so the church grounds' flowers had just opened everywhere.
We did a beautiful silver arch with minimal vinery and butter-colored hydrangeas, and no tulle. The young lady who did my flowers put tulle and yellow roses along the pews (without my permission), but I feel like it took away a little from the natural look we were going for.

For our guest book, I used a black scrapbook and put our engagement photos of us holding hands and walking, kissing, and with little love messages and scriptures randomly on the page...(I actually copied them and cropped the part with us holding hands, or kissing or staring, etc) and let everyone sign with a silver pen...I like to look back in it, and I am using it as an additional wedding album for our honeymoon photos and our first anniversary pages, and maybe later down the line-some baby pics...I can post pics later...But I think the non-traditional look and feel of the guestbook, and the invitation for them to leave messages as well as sign made it a little more romantic.
