Why is it that your soon to be mother in law wants to drive you crazy. Don't get me wrong I love my future mother-in-law to death but she is going to drive me crazy with the planning of the wedding. Last night I decided to take her and my mom to the venue that I saw and I liked. Well of course there are fifty million questions as to why I want to have it there. Did you exhaust all other options? I told her that I don't have time to be running around and looking at 900 different places. I liked what I saw and this is what we want. So of course she wants to ask more questions until my finance just flat out asked her if she is going to pay for anything. Her response was you don't know that. No we don't but it is still about us not you. I just had to vent about that.

Aaawww, I'm so very sorry swtgril24. Sometimes MILs can rub us the wrong way, but they do mean well, most of them. Please remember that. What I do is pretty much follow my own schedule and agenda. Then FH and I both talk to my MIL, just so she could feel part of our wedding, but since FH and I are footing the bill for this, we just tell her after the fact. She gets so happy when we call with news and when I show her pictures, she truly gets into it. See, FH's mon is not in the very best of health either, so she can't travel with us anyway, but I love her a lot. Maybe that's what you guys should think about doing. Not that you're trying to exclude her or anything. On the other hand, the more well-meaning people you have around when choosing your venue, the better. They offer you a clearer perspective on things, so maybe you could just try not to let it get to you so much.

Well said Ginoue!
We have a philosphy around here "your day, your way." It is impossible to please everyone, even if they mean well. If you guys are paying for your own wedding be sure to get exactly what you want so you don't have any regrets. Ginoue offered some wonderful suggestions on how to include your MIL. All the best sistah!
