NEED SOME OPINIONS, PLEASE :-)

Hello there!

I am in need of some objective opinions on the colors I am picking for my 2008 summer evening wedding. The church we are considering is an AME church that has a lot of deep red hues (pews, trimmings, etc) I want the bridesmaids to wear chocolate brown dresses (length would be right below the knee). They would carry red bouquets with silver ribbon. I would also carry a red bouquet with my ivory wedding dress. Here are my questions....I really do appreciate any feedback:

1) Is this color scheme (brown, red, and silver) okay to do in a summer evening wedding?

2) Should the grooms wear brown tuxes OR black tuxes with brown vests?

Blessings to you all....

Re: NEED SOME OPINIONS, PLEASE :-)

I think the colors are fine, especially since it's an evening wedding. My wedding is this coming July and I am wearing a champagne and latte dress, my girls are wearing latte and champagne( the opposite of my dress), and the guys are wearing ivory with latte vest.
I think that today's brides are doing what they like and not what other people say is appropriate for the seasons. Girl I think that you should pick whatever you like and build off of that. Now as for the tux for the me I dont want to tell you something and it looks crazy. So my suggestion to you is go to the store with your fh and have him try on both of the colors you suggested and pick from there. Good luck and I hope I was some assistance.

You colors are cool, but finding a classic brown tux may be hard. You can do brown vest and ties.

You all are great! Thanks for the advice AND the pics of the guyrs (brown tux and brown vest). I want an elegant after 5 appeal...but I was hoping to do a colors instead of the basic black. How does chocolate and mango sound? (as bridesmaids colors). Remember...the church has a lot of red hues in it.

I'm on the ladies with this one. Pick whatever colors are going to make you happy. Nice pics Niquey. I don't think you should focus on the church's colors so much. It seems as though this is what's giving you your uncertainties. People are going to be focused on the people in the wedding party not the surroundings once the ceremony starts. lol

You are soo right, SeptBride. The red colors of the church are giving me the main souce of uncertainty on the colors. I know...I need to get over it! ;-)

Everyone, currently, I am torn between these 3 color schemes:

1)Chocolate brown, red, silver (or ivory) with mango in the flowers
2) Pale Silvery Blue with deep red
3) Black, red, and Silver

Remember this will be an evening wedding in June or August of 2008. I would love to hear your opinions on the above 3 choices of color schemes.

Blessings to you all...

I would go with color scheme #1. Chocolate is one of my favorite colors...I think those colors just look great together.

If your first instincts are to go with #1 then I say go for it. I think that they will look beautiful together. And like Askalot said, you don't have to focus too much on the color of the church. It will all come together and compliment each other.

Which AME church are you having your wedding at?

Hey SmartB, welcome to Vi,
I happen to like scheme #1, except I'm in favor of the ivory over the silver, that seems to be throwing it all off. Again, I don't know if you have specific ideas in mind
I also happen to be a fan of classic black tuxes. You can do what ever color underneath and it'll always retain it's elegance. Again this is just a personal opinion.

You know...after looking at MANY more pics, etc. since my original post, I am REALLY leaning towards the Silvery Blue/Deep Red Flowers combo. Here is a picture:

This is has been well received...this combo. My dress will be ivory and I will have deep red flowers as my bouquet.

I like this because it has the silver touch (which me and the groom BOTH love silver) and the bold red flowers.

I agree, MsBoston, the black tux is ALWAYS sharp!! With this sivlery blue and red combo...I am thinking the ties on the groom and groomsmen would be white and silver striped? (muted silver stripes)

Blessings to all...

SB00 have you considered making your dress stark white and silver? And have the grooms men in suits that are light blue. Stacy Adams makes very nice suits for men they can easily be worn in the most elegant wedding party , and have your FH in a white suit with a silver tie?
