Hi Kim and welcome :-) Since your wedding is about seven months away, I understand how you feel. At least by this point I hope you've gotten:
* a ceremony & reception location locked
*band/DJ
*photographer
*thinking about catering
*colors/theme
What have you done so far?
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

so far this is what I have done:
I have the venue: it will be at my
church
I paid the deposit on my reception
I have picked out my colors
I have bought my wedding dress
and my bridesmaids are paying on
their dresses.
My fiance' and his groomsmen are
going saturday to try on tuxedos.
But I am still struggling with the
other stuff like invitations, programs,
party favors, photography, music,
addresses for invitations do I still have
time to get this done and dont be pressured?

First, welcome to the site Kim. You can ask whatever your heart desire. That's what we're here for. And please don't think any question is crazy. We talk about any & everything, right ladies? BTW, I'm Askalot (I got my name because I used to ask soooooo many questions - lol)
You've accomplished important things so far. Where are you located? Do you have a DJ/musician in mind? YOu need to book that also quickly - usually if it's a "hot" company, they book pretty fast. The same goes for the phototgraphy/videography (if you're having a videographer). You still have time for the favors & programs. I'm ordering my invites in April/May. BTW, my wedding is in Sept.
And just to add you may come out cheaper getting a photographer and a videographer from the same company. And although you still have alot of work to do, it can be done. My advice to you is focus on the big things first. You should start looking for a photographer because they book up quick. Then focus on your invites, the wording, and the addresses. Break each duty down and give yourself a time line. What helped me was if it was under 100 dollars and I felt like I needed or wanted it, I purchased it. Also you can try to make certain things yourself. That way you will save money.

August 18 seems like a popular wedding date. I am located in Hampton, Virginia and that is where the wedding will be. My fiance is From Harlem, NY so his family is going to have to travel here to Virginia. SeptBride I want a photographer and videographer but havent started looking for them yet. But I will get on top of that today. I have my aunt making my invitations which saves me alot of money I just provided her with the wording. So eveyone thinks for all the advice. I have picked out the colors let me know if you all like...

Welcome Kim,
As you can see I don't have much time, and we only go engaged last May. I think you are well on your way. I agree about buying what you need under 100 dollars to go ahead and get things out of the way. I am sure you have bridal magazines so you can start tearing pages out of bouquets or other ideas until you get what you need. If you don't have a coordinator, I would suggest hiring one (if your budget allows) or a trusted, very organized, and business-minded friend (who does whatever you want them to do) with experience to help oversee the event. They can keep you on task and make sure you get things done, and that everyone is covered. A great coordinator is worth their weight in gold!
This website has a list that shows you where you need to be as far as things to do when you have 8 months left. I would definitely handle transportation, book hotels for the honeymoon, AND block rooms for guests, and when you send invites, just make sure they get that information.
We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)
