I know I should have consulted with my Vi Sisters or at minimum someone else. Sometimes I'm just too fast for my own good. I orderd my invitations last night (at long last!) and I had them put the wording in on the reply cards to RSVP by August 21. I have a sinking feeling in my gut that it should have been sooner to give my vendors a final count...
How much time did you ladies have between the RSVP date and your wedding date?

You may still have time to change it. Quickly call or email them, did they send you a proof yet? As far as the time, I think it depends if you are doing an A-list/B-list. Most vendors want a final count 7-14 days before, so I would set my RSVP approx 2 weeks before the final count. HTH
I agree with princess. I put two and a half weeks before i needed to give them a final count.

I did the RSVP deadline 2 1/2 weeks also. The final count was due the monday before the wedding and the money was due that wednesday.

I did mine for 1 month prior. Reason,,,folks of color always send it back late. If you put June 7, you will still be getting rsvps on the 14 and they will swear they sent it on the 5 or 6 so I figure this gives me an extra 2 weeks for those late senders.

Thank you so much ladies. Now, I know what I have to do. MsB, was it too late to change them?

Now that is the truth Tajmom, because although I gave them three weeks to respond, there were so many late stragglers! I almost lost my mind trying to get people to cooperate.

I'm embarrased to say that I did not request a proof. I called and I was not able to change anything. All I can say is that I hope I haven't messed up too bad. Truth is, I half expect those invited to not even RSVP (that's the type of people I'm dealing with) It just sux because I'm not lokoing forward to placing 150+ phone calls for RSVP's that I haven't gotten.
Should have consulted with yall first.
Hopefully everything will work out for you -- I'm praying girl!

Thank you. Lawd knows I'm gonna need it.
One thing to consider is that a deadline is a deadline. I know people who set their deadlines 3-4 weeks in advance, and all the ones that come after are literally disregarded because some people are just sticklers for their deadlines. On the one hand it takes stress off you (like my FH-who didn't care even if his family members sent them late-same rules apply), but on the other hand you may exclude inportant invites.
So even if you have stragglers, no matter how soon the deadline is to the payment and # due date. Once the $$ is paid its out of your hands stragglers or not. Also remember, some people who RSVP on time will forget....this happened to me...they still got the date mixed up...In the end, the ones who really want to be there are going to get their RSVP in on time, and will not forget about your day...
REMEMBER! Everyone who is there IS SUPPOSED to be there-because they wanted to. Everyone who cannot make it, for whatever reason, was not....and thats okay too.
Just call the few people who you know you WANT to come but haven't sent an RSVP in by the due date, and after that forget about it. You won't need to make that many phone calls....trust me.

I certainly hope I don't have to start chasing folk's down. But I have a feeling that'll end up being the case. At any rate that's when I'll strat handing out lists for mom, sis, BM's...whoever to making some calls for me. Thanks for the words of encouragement, I was really bummed out that I didn't catch this one before I went ahead and did what I did.
