Hello everyone! I am planning my 10 year anniversary/reception (never had one). I do not know where to begin and have no idea how to get my husband motivated. I am from NY and have been in PA for 3 years. I do not know where to have the reception (PA, NJ, or NY). :{

welcome to the family dawling.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda

I would start by sitting down with your FH and discuss the date and the venue, number of guests you DON'T want(for ruling out purposes)...so you can decide on what you DO want.
Then decide on:
1. Colors (what two colors can you see that fits yours AND your FH's personality).....rule out the ones you and him hate first....
2. Your wedding ceremony....(Large wedding party, small, none, medium?)...Traditional or minimalist and intimate
3. Reception......large formal dinner, or a small dinner party....garden theme? picnic?
4. YOUR dress style....sometimes this will determine the above 3 things....I wanted something very informal, but when I fell in love with my dress, the ceremony/reception will have to be a little more formal than I originally wanted to....I would go ahead and make an appointment at your nearest bridal store (you don't have to decide on anything that day....but it will get you going, and will give you a sense of accomplishing things for the wedding....they will ask you specific questions about your wedding that you will have to decide on a later date....)
Join either theknot.com or the weddingchannel.com or brides.com and make a webpage and check out OTHER people's weddings! Helps a lot! I use theknot.
Shoot I think you should just go try on dresses first....my friend encouraged me to try on a couple and it was only THEN that I really felt like I was planning a wedding!
Happy planning

Welcome to the site...I dont have any ideas right now but I will get back to you soon on that. Since I live in Cali I cant give advice on NJ,NY OR PA vendors but we have alot of knowledgeable ladies here that are in your areas and can help you out.
Welcome to the boards Crrez4! We are glad to have you. The only thing I would recommend at this point is to set a budget, if you already haven't. As for getting your husband motivated, I would just say put together some ideas in a folder and let him look at them at his leisure. This is what worked for me and my fiance. He wasn't too motivated in the beginning. Now he has input. Do you guys have a date set for your anniversary celebration? If you don't have a date, that is also a good place to start. Good luck in your planning.

Hey everybody! My anniversary date is May 16, 2008 (that is a Friday). Fridays and Sundays tend to be cheaper at banquet halls. I wanted the pure feeling of ROMANCE. I like the colors chocolate and cream. I have ideas and a picture in mind I just have to make it happen on a budget of $6,000. I KNOW I CAN DO IT!
