I think you would want to take pics BEFORE your dress has stains on it.

Re: picture taking

I actually took pictures before. My photographer came to our hotel room and took so many wonderful pictures. She captured so many wonderful memories. I didn't take pictures at the church before because I didn't want anyone to see my dress.

So you would want to take pics after the dress has stains? I'm confused

Re: picture taking

Raysbride, why don't you get someone to follow you around and touch your gown for you, like picking it up in the front and back and positioning it on the ground? They can wear gloves or something too or have a towel with baking soda or whatever they need to quickly address any spot before it sets in. I dunno...just throwing ideas your way!

Re: picture taking

My photographer suggested the same thing; taking pics early in the day. My only problem was heck w/stains...I didn't want anyone (including FH) to see me prior to the wedding.

I've opted to take my pics during sunset as I too don't want to risk getting dirty but also, I've worked too hard to keep my dress a secret. :-)

I say ...wing it!!! Take the pics after the ceremony.

I have to say I agree w/MrsR2b, I mean you KNOW you. How would you feel walking down the isle with gravy on your dress (ok maybe not gravy but grass stains?) I think pictures as you are getting ready and when you are heading out and haven't reached the isle will suffice as long as you STAY CLEAN! I share your sentiment Raysbride beacuse if I get ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING on my dress before I walk down that isle...let me tell you heads are gonna roll! A professional photographer will have the correct lenses and lighting to take well lit photos. I hadn't thought about this at all...Great post!

Re: picture taking

My wedding ceremony will be starting at 7pm as well. I am going to take pics before with me and my girls and after with my husband and entire bridal party. We are going to have two photographers so before the wedding one will be with me and one will be with my husband.

Ray I say wait until after. You guys know i'm full of stories so here you go. My best friend got married many years ago. Since her ceremony was starting later in the day, she also wanted to take all pics b4 wedding. Also she didn't want to miss any of her reception or cocktail hour. I asked her if she was sure, i mean don't u want to see the look on your FH face as he sees u for the 1st time in your gown. I did not think it was a good idea but after all it was her day. Well, she missed the look on his face when he came down to take the pics since she was taking some of the other shots. I was in pics but facing him. Trust, it was a face that every bride is hoping 4 when she picks out her dress and everything. 15 years later, her biggest regret is she did not get to see the look on his face when he saw her for the 1st time. I tried to tell her but,,,, So trust Rays bride, wait until after.

Darn good advice!! That's what I call the "money shot" of the day. If you get nothing else, you want to see the look on your FH's face when he sees your for that 1st time.

Have the best man keep your husband away from you (in the hotel room or where ever he is getting ready. Have the photographer take YOUR BRIDAL pictures before, then take the two of you together after the wedding. Just a suggestion. :)

Ieasha - U are the bomb, girl!! I was having this picture dillema in the back of my mind...but, u just solved my problem!! I will take pics w/ my bridal party b4 the ceremony (w/ the best man on guard of course). And have pics of groomsmen taken while I'm getting dressed...so my FH won't see me b4 the actual ceremony. Goal here is to get a nice portion of the pics done and over with b4 ceremony w/o groom seeing me. Then after ceremony we only have a few pics to take w/ complete party. Then hubby and I can hog the camera and ham it up privately while everyone is enjoying the cocktail hour. Perfect! Does this make sense?

Picture taking

This advice was so good and the question comes up so much I wanted to repost this topic. A great tip for staying clean is have a back up pair of wedding gloves. This way you can be sure your pics are all great and you look extra clean all night long.
