Yeah they need prayer...And what I cannot believe is how people moved right back over there and still have no transportation or way to get out on their own. One woman they interviewed friday said she doesn't know how she will get out. The State Government has enough buses ready to evacuate 30,000 people when the time comes. I think evac is mandatory now, and people have already left as of Friday....
After Katrina, it would take a lot to get me to go back, and the attitude of complacency, and nostalgia I think has got people to think that it (Katrina) was another once in a lifetime deal and another wouldn't be back for decades but here we are 3 years later!? Even the Army Core of Engineers can't determine if the new levees will hold against even a Category 3...They are still too low, and they are only good for 100 years....he 500 year levees are too expensive?!?!
It goes without saying that those in Louisiana will be in my prayers. After Katrina, at the sign of another major Hurricane, I'd be among the first to leave. To think that some people still opted to stay once again. I will of course pray, but some people are taking foolish chances unnecessarily
The storm is there. I've seen pictures of the levees, they are just shoddy as hell!
I wonder why New Orleans doesn't have a wall the way that Galveston does. After the hurricane killed all of those people sometime in the 1900s, they built a sea wall that has been protecting Galveston ever since.
I love this picture of one of the people that decided to stay.
I've always asked myself that very same question. I guess the government probably felt that it was too much money. What is the price of a life? That's my question to them.
Our prayers were answered!!! God spared their city 1 more time. It did not do half of the damage that they expected it to do. We are grateful for that God's grace. We must continue to pray for the other cities in line of fire of the next two hurricanes, Hanna and Ike.
I was in the "ground zero area" of that storm last Saturday (Houma LA). I was there to deliver a load but for some reason the load wasn't schedule to deliver that day so I ended up taking that load back to Georgia. Traffic was a beast! For the first 100 miles of my trip, it took 7 hours! There was so many people on the road.
Ladies, it looks like Hanna is heading my way. Please pray for my area (Jacksonville Fl), my parents (Savannah Ga), and Cinnamin1 (Fort Lauderdale).
My prayers go out to you Plat. I'm also in Georgia so I have been watching Hanna like a hawk. Looks like she is comming straight at us. Told DH if it gets serious we are headed back North.
Plat I will hold you Cinny and your parents up in prayer. We are no match for nature, but in complete humility we will trust God to not allow any hurt, harm or danger to come your way. God bless!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
I was praying hard for the favor of grace and mercy over the entire state of Louisiana. I am originally from Louisiana (Denham Springs) and was there when Katrina hit so I know all the fustration and effects these hurricans can bring. Some of my family did not evacuate but most did and so we have a house full, but I am sooo grateful and thankful that none of my family got hurt or any major damages to there homes. Thanks for your prayers.
Thanks for the prayers Vibride am in a city called Walker, LA that's about 45 miles away from New Orleans. We got hit really bad. Pictures does no justice for our area. We are still without power and not expected to receive power until Monday of next week.
Am in Texas now and my family is back home in a hotel.
Please keep us lifted in prayer not only pray for New Orleans pray for The Gulf Coast.

I really love the way this site is not just about love and weddings!!! Its about real life in general...issues and concerns that face each of us day in and day out.
So, I thought I'd take a little time to comment on that and let each of you that your support is greatly appreciated.
Hurricane Ike is out there now, and I thank God that us here in Miami were spared!!! We went through Andrew many years ago, so we truly empathize with those affected by Katrina, Gustav, Hanna, Wilma, and every other bad storm that has come.
My pastor was saying on Sunday that us here in Miami were spared by Ike for a reason. Haiti, Turks and Caicos, and Cuba were all devastated by Ike, but now its our turn to reach out to those countries and help those people. If we had been hit by Ike, those people wouldn't have been able to help us very much, but it happened the other way around because we are in position to help them!!!
Can you imagine those poor people in Haiti and Cuba who get hit by virtually every storm that develops?!?! Or the people of the Turk and Caicos who had 80% of all their homes damaged by Hurricane Ike?!?!
Its a sad situation, but now is our chance to reach out to them! Yes, I'm greateful that Ike missed us, but I will not forget those people that it has affected and that it will affect. Please pray for those people, and do whatever you can to help them. There are many organizations and churches that are sending clothes and food to aid those in need. Will you help???

Glad to hear that you were spared, i think what your pastor said is right.
can you post some of the info of the organizations and church that things can be sent to?
Hey Ladies, our power has been restored . We made it ladies thanks for everyone that prayed for us here in the Gulf Coast Region . Presently, we are monitoring Ike .
That is great news landa! Thanks for keeping us updated. Here in Florida's Panhandle we are supposed to be missed but you never know, so we are looking out for it. We are still dealing with major flooding issues from Fay still. We have had some storms from passing bands of other hurricanes knock our power out as recently as Saturday. My crazy DH drove all the way to the next county over to his friend's to watch the Gator's game...He is crazy! But anyhoo, since I work for the Health Department, we have been on alert since then to set up shelters within 12-24 hours if needed. So we are monitoring and watching too.
This is just sad. Gustav will possibly be a category 5 hurricane. That city was just starting to get back on its feet!

Yes our prayers were answered. God is awesome and he spared New Orleans. I hope that the powers that be decide to build a wall around the city.
