Program length

How long is too long?

Will it scare the guest if they see a six page program and make them think they are in for a 2hour ceremony,.

I have been to a wedding ceremony that was like an hour and ahalf long before!!!

Re: Program length

Girl we had a 1-page program folded in half and that thing lasted a good 30 minutes, okay maybe 20.
Seriously, you will scare them if the program is ACTUALLY that long...Plus think about your printing costs. Now if you are just doing a long program sheet with pictures and stuff you may want to consider just some framed pics at the guest table in the ceremony foyer or breezeway area where they sign in-cause everyone who went to the ceremony didn't go to the reception....but yes, you WILL get the folk nervous....but also remember, one they are there, they can't really walk out now can they?

Plus, that long weddingyou went to, if all you can remember was that its long, then there is your answer...you want to cut it off at some point...You want people to remember the event, not how bored and jittery they eventually got.....They will say, "The wedding was beautiful, but it was soooo long!"

More than 45 minutes is pushing it.

Re: Program length

MzTajsia, I think if you want a 6 page program, then you should have yourself a 6 page program. The program DOESN'T make the ceremony. I can honestly tell you that when I attend weddings and it doesn't start on time, I start reading the program. It's very personal & entertaining to me. I'm having a 4 page program and actually need a little more room, but if I add another page, it will not be filled with info. But, this is your day, do it how YOU want it.

My Program is going to be long, but it will be more of a keepsake. Since it's kind of a fairy tale theme, it will consist of
1) The Lovers aka The Prince & Princess(a brief synopsis of the two of us)
2) An Ordained Meeting
3) The Engagement
4) The Attendants Are Chosen (Wedding Party)
5) A Glorious Day Is Planned (The invitation)
6 & 7 The Two Become One (Ceremony)this is also the center of the booklet)
8) A Grand Ball Is Held (Reception Itinerary)
9) Poem Entitled "God Give Us"
10) Acknowledgements
11-12 Lyrics to songs or "Did You Know" info about me & FH

Although this sounds like alot, it only three sheets of paper folded in half like a program with all of this printed on front & back to look like a booklet.

Maybe crazy to some, but this is how I envisioned it... So if 6 pages is What you want, go fo it!!!
