Ladies I am filled with so much Joy right now. My one and only child is a High School Senior just called me and told me she received her class rank today. She ranked 38 out of 415 students, that's the top 10% of her class. I am so so proud and I have tears in my eyes at this very moment. If I have never done anything else right in my entire life....I can say, SHE IS what I did right. Up until I met DH I had to work two sometimes 3 jobs just to support us so I wasn't always around to watch over her. She could have easily been a statisic but I Thank God for wrapping us in his loving arms, and showing mercy upon us. Babygirl has grown into a beautiful young lady who is strong like me, believes in hardwork like me, she respects others and she loves God.
When the proofs of her senior pictures came back I remember opening the mail and crying so hard my knees got weak. Tears of happiness seeing the fruits of my labor. When she came home from school that day I asked her if she planned on sending her father and his mother one and she was like "For what? They didn't have anything to do with this. They can read about me in the paper" I thought to myself, boy is that mini me or what. Babygirl is going to be all right. And God willingly, attending Howard University next year!!! YEAH!!!!!
Just had to share...

I can relate PamCrow!!! I too have a daughter (my one and only child) and she is a high school senior too! I raised her for most of her life alone.
I want to tell you to pat yourself on the back girlfriend! It is time to celebrate! May God bless babygirl (what is her name?). I wish her much success!

Congrats Pamcrow!!!! This reaffirms to you that you have done all the right things by your daughter. You've sacrificed a lot along the way, but oh, the reward speaks for itself doesn't it? My daughter is also graduating in the summer and will be attending a University in Tennessee. Be very proud of yourself!!! Double-pat on the back!!!
^^ high five!

Thank you ladies. My daughter's name is Aminah McGill. The name Aminah happens to mean trustworthy & faithful and I'm happy to say she exemplifies both qualities.
Much success to all our children!!! With us sistas behind them, how can they not be great.

Congrats Pam! What a wonderful accomplishment.
Its not easy being a single parent.. keeping food on the table, a roof over your head and cloth on your back and also making sure your children are on the straight and narrow. So you go girl you deserve that pat on your back. congrats
