In a past post, someone mentioned that on a reply card they recieved, a guest wrote in like 5 or 6 other guests to bring with them because they left it blank or something like that. To avoid this, my coordinator told me of a wedding she was invited to where the reply card had a line for her name (as she was the one invited) and then the number of guests ALREADY filled in "2" for her and her husband only.
Is anyone doing this? This seems like extra work, but for me it may be worth it to minimize having to tell people to limit the # of guests, PLUS, you can still do it on a case by case basis in case you only want to invite one person, 2, 3 or more per invite.

Bumble, I'm definately doing this. We talked about this way on a coule of different posts. It's very well worth it.
Hi Bumble!
You should definately limit the number of people per guest. Especially at sit down receptions or open bar situations. Be strict! have a list of RSVPs at the door and DO NOT LET IN ANYONE NOT ON THE LIST until after all the people polite enough to honor your request have been seated.
A good rule of thumb however, is to add a minimum of 10 plates and seats to your count for the caterer. This way you won't HAVE to turn anyone away.

Girl Bumble that 5 people RSVP kicker post was from me. I had to learn the hard way! That is smart, if I can do things all over again...... you know I would do it your way!!!! And I did follow Rosie's rule of thumb and added 10 people to our number. Hopefully my family or FH's family won't show their butts and show up with out an RSVP!

I am going to do the samething. I know how my family is, and they would invite everyone.

I don't know why people do that. My family is the same way, I know they would see things differently if they were paying.

That is what I plan to do.
Got cha. We're doing a buffet so I think I remember them saying they accomodate about 15 more people. Plus I KNOW people we invite are not going to show up.
