RSVP's coming in.......I'm nervous!!

My rsvp's are starting to roll in, and it's scaring me. Listening to FH instead of going with my own gut instinct, we over invited, assuming certain people wouldn't show. I kept telling him that everyone MAY show, but he swore up and down that never happens.

Well, a few of those people I thought wouldn't come, RSVP'd!! I am scared now. What if everyone decides to show up?? Not only is the room not big enough, but where is the extra money going to come from???

Between the thing with the invitations (on another thread), these rsvps, our groomsmen being murdered (on another thread), and mother nature making her monthly visit this morning, I feel like I'm on a verge of a nervous breakdown!

Ok, I'm exaggerating, maybe not a nervous breakdown, but I feel super duper stressed right now, and I don't like it!!

I am so glad my kids are gone for the weekend because my patience is very thin right now, and I would hate to take my frustrations out on them.

I'm so glad you ladies are here to listen!

B2B, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. First, let me say pray. Girl, pray that either they don't show up or that someone else will decline or to grant you a way to pay for the extra people. I know the stress that you are having. You are definately going through a lot right now. But, He will see you through it.

Men never listen to us anyway. What suggestions do your FH have regarding this?

Why did you assume, knowing the folks you sent invites to, that they would not respond? Everyone goes to weddings to see what the bride/party is wearing, critique the reception, and to having something to talk about later (good or bad).
Pray they don't show up, but plan as though they will.

I don't know why I assumed. Like I said, listening to FH instead of going with my gut instinct. At this point, all I can do is pray. He has gotten me out of bad situations all my life, so hopefully this one won't be any different:)

One thing I learned while being on this site, is that as we get closer to our weddings the stress increases as well. But the thing that I would like to point out is that God has always worked things out. Time after time I see how The Master has answered each bride's prayer requests. Just trust Hime B2B, and as you said before he has brought you out before and He will do the same this time. Be encouraged my sister.

Gurl I know the feeling! I had people at my wedding who were invited but didn't RSVP and they still showed up! It was a good thing that some of the people who did RSVP didn't show up and I alloted for some extra spots otherwise I wouldn't have been able to accomodate those people.

I need to send my FH this thread. His mom is telling him 'everyone won't come'. If the ceremony was out of town, i'd agree BUT if your entire family still lives in the city where the wedding will take place, please believe they're coming.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Now that is something to think about. Cinny perhaps you should ask your FMIL what if everyone does come, then what?

Re: RSVP's coming in.......I'm nervous!!

I was freaking out for the same reason early on. My fiance's parents invited a lot of people "who will never come", but who all live in the area, so of course they are comming. I eventually realized that most of the people who respond quickly are comming and more of the people who respond slowely aren't. The numbers have evened out somewhat. I'm still freaking out over the number, but the 80% estimate I saw somewhere online I still think is pretty good.

Of course now I'm freaking out because the wedding is just over 5 weeks away, the RSVP deadline was almost 4 weeks ago, and we still haven't heard from 40 out of 235 people. (mostly ones we don't expect to come, but who can be sure) They are almost all invitees of my fiances parents and I'm worried they aren't finding out whether or not they are really comming fast enough. Plus some other people we've left a few messages for and haven't heard back from. Any advice on that? It sounds kind of like ieasha's problem, but I'm worried I won't have such good luck with numbers like she had.

Hi JoeFinkle and welcome to the boards. Wow! If you haven't heard from those 40 persons, perhaps you should have your fiance's parents place a call to them. If that has already been done and they have not yet responded. I would say that it is probably safe to assume that they will not be coming. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Its tough. But like Rhonda said, I would have someone make phone calls so that you dont have people just showing up anyway. Better safe then sorry.

Rony, I am NOT worrying about what that lady says. I know what i'm talking about and at the end of the day it's up to me & FH. I told FH we are not going over 150 people & that he needs to trim down his side of the family just like I had to, whether she likes it or not because we are paying for everything!

Re: RSVP's coming in.......I'm nervous!!

I had 178 people RSVP for my wedding/reception. We originally paid for only 175. Only about 125 actually showed up to the reception. I was upset, but it worked out. Just like in your case, it will work out.

If I can offer some advice, 20-30% of your guest list will probably not show up. Even if they RSVP'd.
