I mailed my Save the Date cards out today!! It is such a load off. I have had such a hard time trying to cut my guest list, but I finally cut it down to a reasonable amount, at least I hope so! We are hoping for 200 people, and I cut my guest list from 265 to 230, so I pray that at least 20 people don't plan to attend! 210 will still keep us within budget. So anyways, for those who have already done so, how soon in advance should I order my invitations? I have already picked them out and everything, just not sure how soon I should order them.

Good for you.
Doesnt it feel good when you are able to check things off of your list.
I cant wait to send out my STD.
I ordered some from Vista Print and they did a GREAT job. Yesterday I was playing around and created another one that I liked so I ordered a new set. I think I will send out both 1 type to some and the other type to others.

I would like to know the answer to the same question
The "etiquette sites and books" indicate that STD's should be mailed out 4-6 months prior to your wedding....Unless you are planning a Destination wedding. In that case they should be mailed out 9-12 months in advance.
Hope that helps

It really depends on your rsvp due date. Order 12-10 prior to that date factoring in 2 week average print time. This should leave you enough lead way to address invites without feeling stressed for time.

That's 12-10 weeks !!!!

I found this on a etiquette website regarding when to send out invitations:
When should I mail out my wedding invitations?
Invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Destination weddings or holiday weddings can be mailed out 10-12 weeks before the wedding.

Thank you all for the information. I just have to make my final decision on my invitations, and then I will decide when I need to order them. Thanks ladies, you've been very helpful!

I'm not sending any STD's because half the known world has already been informed by any one of my children, their close friends, or my mother. They have informed me that they have marked the date in their cell phones, planners, and their online calendars (MS Outlook). I think I am going to have to break some hearts because not ALL of them are going to make the invitation cut.

I'm sending them because my wedding is on a thursday so I want people to have time to make work arrangements, etc.

Teresa, you may find some at www.vistaprint.com, or you may choose to do your own.

I actually made my own on Photoshop. If you already know the program, or a similar one, it is not difficult at all. I was able to put 2 on one sheet, so in the end, I only needed to print out about 70 sheets or so. I took my usb drive to Office Depot, they printed the cards on photo paper, I cut them with the paper cutter that they have in the store, and that was it! I ended up sending out about 120 or so.
