What do you ladies do to keep those diamond engagement rings shiny? I was getting mine cleaned at the mall when ever I went. Does anyone know of a home remedy?

I purchased the Diamonique Jewelry Cleaner System from QVC for about $12. They made if for CZs, but it is great for diamonds too. My rings are natural diamonds, and that stuff works wonders on them. When I clean them they shine like stars. I wouldn't use anything else on my diamonds.

Don't use a scrub brush. It will weaken the prongs that hold your diamonds in place! Try a very soft newborn toothbrish as a last resort. Also your jeweler will clean and test the prongs at no extra charge usually. 12 years later I still get mine professionally polished and tightened for free.

I usually go to the jeweler that FH got my ring from. In between visits (I usually go every 2 months or so), I use a jewelry cleaner (you can get it from CVS or a jewelry store).
Thanks Ladies! I think I may try a jewelry cleaner. I read some where that a cold water bath will clean it but I must not be doing it right so I will try a cleaner.
Toothpaste. My Cambodian friend taught me this trick. It gives the diamond more of a sparkle. Amonia works well if you can stand the smell.
I don't think that I mentioned that we purchased a ring for my son, and had it engraved from the both of us. I wanted to include him more in the ceremony so he doesn't feel left out.
Love what you & FH did for your son Belleblanc! Very classy. Using a toothbrush will loosen the setting over time. You can get a battery operated or Sonic Jewelry Cleaner
for cheap. It is well worth it and you get super shiny gems every time safely.
What a lovely gesture, Belle!
Rosie, you'll he happy to know I took your advice...I use a baby's toothbrush & toothpaste as a last resort for cleaning. I've found that bathing with shower gel makes my ring shine better than with regular soap. I also have the ring cleaned & inspected every six months by the jeweler FH got it from.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

I'm so excited, I hope that everyone see's this message. I found my shoes for my second dress, yepee!! I was really nervous about this, as I purchased a few shoes that just didn't go well with the dress. A co-worker told me about a store for those with wide feet; I tried finding it a few weeks ago but coudln't. I was determined to try and ride around to find it (on lunch time of course) and I stumbled upon the store. It's called Lee's Shoe Store. Doesn't sound like much but the shoes are fabulous let me tell you now! Rarely am I 100 percent satisfied; I am totally elated and over the moon about my shoes. The only thing I need now is a good old pedicure with steel wool and a bunch of scrubbing; no ashiness on my special day, PLEEEZ!
I would like to find a nice silver police, it would really bring out the shoe. I'm happy today everyone.

I meant silver polish; I want nothing to do with law enforcement, ha!

Definitely keep those inspection appointments girl so that warranty doesn't void! I don't clean my ring myself, I just let the jeweler do it. I guess I am a little lazy:(
I clean my ring myself every other day. I lowve when it sparkles. I wish I had the time to go to the jeweler. I am so busy now adays. Between work, my family, and planning every little detail of my wedding I am swamped.

Thanks. I will have to invest in the battery operated gadget. I sure don't want to loosen my diamond. I'm almost finished and so very tired. I'm so tired, I haven't been able to sleep.

I went to see my sister for Thanksgiving and she cleaned my ering with Windex and an electronic toothbrush. It worked great and is still shining! I told her I am going to go to the dollar store and pick up an electronic toothbrush.
Do we have a link with ering pictures anywhere? I would love to see everyone's erings.

DW, Mild dishwashing detergent & warm water. I clean mine weekly w/a small nail scrub brush. Works like a charm to get under the prongs of your ring.

You can try toothpaste, or you can clean them with vinger.

I was reading a website on ring care and it advised to soak in 10% alcohol and scrub with a soft toothbrush. I tried it and my ring looked wonderful.
