I see from previous post that there are some ladies here with roots from Barbados. We're thinking about honeymooning there instead of Las Vegas.
Can you tell me a little more about the island?
Is it rich in culture/sight seeing?
How's the night life?
Is there a specific area that's more popular than others?
Thanks

Is it safe to assume that no one has been to Barbados, lol!
Sorry Springbride but yesterday I sat and wrote a long post about Barbados, hubby to be even put in his 2 cents worth.I probably pressed something else instead of reply.I am sorry. Will do it again.
Thank you so much. I'm hoping it was a good lengthy report :-)
I don't know what is happening .I posted it again but it did not show up.
This is a shorter version.
Barbados is known for it's rum,rum punch, beer (voted #1 in the world already), and nightlife. Each house is uniquely built and painted to the owners desire.I must say we are very unique in this aspect.
The south coast is becoming more popular esp. the St. Lawrence gap. There are lots of hotels, restaurants, night clubs and beaches all on one road. The restaurants range from seafood, italian etc. and local food. The music range from local(calpyso, reggae) to jazz.'The Gap is also known as the gap that does not sleep. If you want a secluded beach or place to stay there are some furthur along the south coast.
The best beaches are said to be along the west coast. Our beaches have white sand, the water is clear and reflects the blue sky.
A must is the popular Oistin fish fry every Friday and Saturday night. There is local cooking there in an open air atmosphere, music and a festivities.
Sight seeing:you can visit Harrison's Cave,Andromena garden,The Animal Flower cave,Farley Hill national park and many more.We have lots of picnic spots all over the island.
If you like the sea and sealife there is the Catamaran cruise or The Atlantis submarine,or a trip on a glass bottom boat. There is also jet skiing.
If there is anything else don't hesitate to ask.I hope this shows up.
Thank you so much! It seems to have everything I look for in a vacation, sight seeing, night life, beautiful beaches & good food. I'm leaning towards making this our honeymoon spot.
Hi ladies, me and my fh is thinking about going to barbados for our hm. I don't eat meat but I do eat seafood which it seems to have a lot of so that is a good thing. We want to go somewhere really romatic what part do you think is like that? I seen a hotel called House. That's where I really want to go but the price is really high. Do you know anything about that hotel?
No I have never heard of it,but I can try to find out. Some hotels can be very expensive but there are some very reasonable and smaller ones .There are many guest houses as well some of which tend to be alot cheaper. When you search for 'hotels in Barbados' there are quite a few that you can view.
I wish I could tell you about specific hotels in Barbados but I've never had a chance to stay in one. I always stay with family. My cousin stayed at the Glitter Bay for her honeymoon and she said they were treated like royalty. I'm pretty sure it's on pricey side though. I'll ask around and see what I can find out.

I stayed at 'The Crane Resort' in Barbados last year for my MOH's wedding.Well just overnight. The bridal party stayed there. It was just fabulous. We had our own private pool...jakusi style. The furniture was solid and looked the bomb.4 poster bed, jakusi style bathtub with jet spray shower all around you.Mind you it was still under construction so the rates were a bit reduced, but you wouldn't have known cause we didn't hear a thing (noise). It is almost finished and the price has gone back up.But I would recommend that place to anyone. If you have the ocean view which we had you wake up to a turquoise sea, clear skies no pollution about 180 degrees around you.Shucks thy should be paying me for this add,or giving a free room for my honeymoon.lol
We narrowed our selection down to Barbados or Costa Rica. We should finalize our decision within week end. I will keep you ladies posted & thanks again for the helpful information
Any decision Springbride?
Yes, we decided on Barbados & we're booking it tomorrow!!!!! I can't wait!!
Congrats! Which hotel did you decide on?

Barbados I can definitely tell you about it is certainly my
favourite island and one of the best choices in the Caribbean period.
The infrastructure in Barbados is very good for Internet connectivity etc. I am
in Barbados right now and have had no problem with the high speed connectivity.
Most places, hotels, private villas apts have internet capabilities.
The snorkeling in Barbados is fantastic! The water in crystal clear and I from
what I am told visibility is between 80 - 90 feet most of the year. The two
most popular coasts are the South and West Coast - the West Coast waters are
generally tranquil which makes them perfect for snorkeling.
If you decide to go to Barbados you will find that there a number of reasonably
priced places in addition to the super luxury ones. Barbados is physically not
that big of an island and most accommodations are within walking distance of
restaurants, stores, pubs etc.
The South Coast has a bit more in the way of night life and "action"
than the West Coast but both areas have a number of shops, restaurants etc.
that are within walking distance.
Public transportation is also very good, should you choose to explore other
parts of the island.
