Welcome MHunter08 -- you are too cute -- lol!!! The amount of deposit depends on your venue, they will tell you what is acceptable. You can start shoping for a dress as soon as possible, because it can never be too soon. Lastly you do not need a ring bearer or flower girl, you can create your own tradition.

Personally I didn't have a ring bearer or a flower girl. I had my ushers/hostesses pass out rose petals to my guests and they threw the petals out right before I walked down the aisle. I've even seen a wedding where the groom throws down the petals right before his bride enters. You can come up with your own thing, always remember it is your wedding day -- have it your way!!! Good luck.

Welcome mhunter08 and Congratulations !!! The motto here is "Your Day Your Way" so you can do or not do whatever you want for your wedding.

Every venue differs on how much deposit they require. My venue required $1000. If you have a particular place in mind already you should speak with the Sales/banquet manager asap for deposit/pricing info and confirming whether your date is available.

Have your picked colors yet? What style of dress are you considering?

welcome mhunter08!!
I'm with the other sisters on this one-do it your way, whatever you want will be alright because it is YOUR decision (well you may want to include FH in on a few things!! :) )

Welcome and congratulations mhunter08! The other ladies have definitely provided you with some very helpful information. As with Pamcrow, my venue, required a $1000 deposit. My reception is an adult only reception, so I have decided to do with out a ring bearer and flower girl. As the ladies said, "Your day, your way!" My fiance actually loves the idea of having no children in the wedding...lol!

Welcome to the site, Mhunter. Where are you planning to have your wedding? The amount of the deposit depends on the venue you choose. You should call them and ask what their requirements are (deposit amounts and deadlines; will they allow alcohol, other caterers, etc).

I just sent a whole big message and it disappeared! Never mind.....

Welcome MHunter08! You're in good company - the girls will help you tremendously with your wedding preparations. It's never too early to start looking for the dress. You never know how long it's going to take you to find "THE ONE" and you might need alterations etc....

In regards to the deposit on reception venue, the girls may be able to give you a better indication, but our reception venue want a deposit of

Welcome!
The ladies will help you out so much, they helped me!
Like everyone has said it depends on your venue. Our venue charged $200 to hold the date and the head count and balance is due two weeks before the wedding. We are paying $59 bucks a head, and we are also having an adult only reception.

Re: tryna stay sane
It's difficult to say "no kids" at reception because it offends the parents. How do you get around this?
I was just talking to my mother about this today. I find it funny that people can find babysitters when they want to do something (i.e. their b-days) but the minute someone says their wedding is adult only they cop an attitude about not having a sitter. My reception is in the evening, ending at 11pm. My own children are leaving at 8 after dinner. No I don't want kids at my ADULT ONLY reception while I'm trying to enjoy my day, drink, and jack my body to music from the late 80s to early 90s! No I will not make exceptions because no one has only 1 or 2 children and if I let all yall bring ya little crumb snatchers they will outnumber the adults - SORRY the b-day party for my 7yo son is in 2 weeks - I'll entertain the kiddies then!

Sorry for the rant but my mama lost her mind today! And do you know she had the nerve to suggest I serve BBQ at the reception? WTF? Talkin bout I have to remeber I'm taking people's holiday (Memorial Day). Don't they still have Sunday and Monday to eat that hog?! I knew she was country but she usually hides it better! Sorry for going off on a tangent! Just needed to get that out!

Re: tryna stay sane

Hello there and welcome mhunter 08, by your flag, shall I assume that you're Haitiana? Not that it matters as I am as well, anyways welcome to the sisterhood. With a budget of $16,000 you and your FH could have a spectacular wedding. Where is your wedding taking place sister? It's your wedding darling. There's nothing that says that you should have ring bearers or flower girl. Your vision for your wedding is exactly what it should be.

As for the deposit of your reception venue ~ it depends on the final price of your event. Some places require a 50% deposit and have the balance due a few weeks prior to your event, others may require a little less. It's never too late to start pouring over magazines and figuring out the style of dresses that interest you.

Welcome and happy planning.
