It's the anniversary of our first date and our engagement. We're going to get inside our rings inscribed. Maybe we'll go somewhere romantic. One Valentine's Day I used one of those timeshare promotions for us to go to the Poconos...and I think I received another offer for that recently. Instead of putting us in the old hotel while the timeshare was in the new hotel, they put us in the new hotel while the timeshare was in the old hotel. It was niiiiiice! It had a kitchenette with big fridge, stove, everything, livingroom area with fireplace, television in the bedroom, television in the living room, huge jacuzzi tub! I couldn't believe my eyes! Honey, I filled up that tub with a bubble bath, had the red candles, red rose petals, sparkling cider...it was fun! I went to the spa and got a massage. (He's too ticklish to get one.) We went horseback trotting thru the woods. We really enjoyed ourselves.
The annual Black & Puerto Rican Caucus falls on Valentine Day so DH and I will be going to the dinner & dance and hopefully some of the workshops that will be hosted over the weekend.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
I like the hotel idea, especially a suite with a jacuzzi. Have dinner first or even have it delivered to the room. Bring your favorite CD of ballads, the wine, the candles and let the fun begin! Diamond Bride- you must be excited. Getting married on Valentine's Day. Wow!
These three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Cor
DH and I haven't thought about it...maybe a romantic dinner at home...since V-day is on a Sat. I would dare not even attempt to go to a restaurant..our choices are now a little limited since we have company now in the form of a 4 month old! LOL
So will ours because we ar saving big time for our guest who is arriving in August and we are going skiing at the end of the month. I will just maybe get him a shirt and we stay at home.
Dh and I don't reallly celebrate Valentine's Day so big...I know we will spend the day together once he gets off work, put the kids to bed early and enjoy alone time together, dinner and a movie or something. I am thinking about changing things up on him and get him this cell phone that he has been crying about since I got me a new one. I also got some ideas from this book I read online called "50 Ways to be Romantic On the Cheap". I am not sure who it is by but it gives some good ideas to add into a night with your other half.

Speaking of which, I just found an inexpensive event online that I'm going to suggest to my Baltimore/DC Couples Meetup Group. It a free tour of a vinyard and winery followed by a chocolate and wine tasting at $5 per person in another city. I was trying to make reservations at a nice B&B in the area, but they're booked. So, I made reservations for dinner afterwards at a nice reasonably priced restaurant in Little Italy, then a couple of the Dancing Meetup Groups are meeting for a Valentine's Day Dance with a LIVE BAND at a Latin dance club ($10-$12). The managers are giving lesson's first, then dancing. They'll have a $20 buffet too, but I'm thinking the restaurant will have better food. It's my turn to do the planning this year.
Here are 2 possible dresses for the night. What do you think?
Not sure what the hubby and I will be doing for V-Day. It will be something wonderful and intimate. You ladies have some wonderful ideas. I just may have to steal a few.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
I'm bouncing around with some ideas, but I don't know what to do.
My first idea is to go to the Miami Seaquarium. They have a dinner under the stars poolside (watching the dolphins perform), and swim with the dolphins package. I love the concept because its quite unique. I ran it by DH and he didn't sound interested. :-(
My second idea is to decorate the house with candles, florals, and ribbon. Leave clues/instructions throughout the house for him to carry out (something to do with: food, massage, loving, and a bubble bath).
I hate going out to dinner on V-Day...its such a hassle.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Woow that sounds NICE !!! Maybe you could have combined the two ideas, leading him on a mini scavenger hunt around the city that ended up at the seaquarium. That would have been hott!

Okay my plans are getting better and better the more I read! I want to get an early start. So I may get the scavenger hunt started early to build anticipation may be friday night...Then surprise him with the hotel stay later. I already booked the hotel at the Hilton Homewood Suites. Its more like a 1-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. My sister MAY agree to help me cut up fruits and other goodies and get the petals and candles set up. Winn Dixie and Publix had some bags of fresh rose petals in different colors for like 3-4 dollars a bag so I may use silk ones for the floor and bed, and the fresh ones in the tub!
I think I will bring our toasting flutes from the wedding reception. We are going to the Bahamas in May for his 30th birthday, so for our Anniversary in March we may just do a quite evening. We went BACK to our honeymoon destination last year so we will keep it quiet. We both agreed to work that day, but I may have some candies and fruit sent to his office that day. He'll welcome the surprise....Anyhoo, keep the ideas coming. I need to start creating the "clue cards" on the computer this weekend.

I love this idea. It would have been fun. Maybe he didn't want to go swimming there.
MsSTBMrs, I think I may end up getting dress #1. I like the way it will move around my legs when I'm salsa dancing "shimmying" like you say. LOL! I love the sash and I think the A-line cut will flatter my hips better than the more narrow cut of #2 dress, although I love it's wrapped waist. My hubby might have to cover me up if I wore number 2!
I think I would like to extend our festivities into the Sunday after with Sunday being a more relaxful day at home, sleeping in, and maybe just pampering him, breakfast in bed, etc.
I'm so glad football season is over! Woohooo! I enjoyed the game last night though. Congrats to all the Steelers fans.
I am trying to do this scavenger hunt, and I looked it up online, and its a lot of work. I may have his sister involved however. I am trying to connect some dots as far as how to get it started, where to have the scavenger hunt lead him, so he can end up at the hotel. I definitely may have him drive over while me and my sister just get it all set up. Anyways, anyone here do a scavenger hunt before? During the hunt I want him to pick up some candles, and our wedding toasting flutes along the way so he'll have to collect things....I can check into the hotel at 3PM, and I'd love to have him there by 6 or 7. I think I can order the food and have him pick it up and bring it along the way.
I guess it needs to be sexy. I am also going to print all the clues on some cards in color and stick them in probably red envelopes.
Just this morning, we purchased tickets for Sunday afternoon's performance of Tyler Perry's stage play, The Marriage Counselor. It's playing at Morgan State University. I thought the play would have been sold out, but thankfully, good seats were still available. I can't wait! My Valentine's Day dress, dress#1, arrived on Monday and it fits great! I can't wait to go dancing in it Saturday night.
I need ideas! Want to surprise him....

To avoid the crowds and jacked up prices, we always celebrated our Valentines Day a few days before to make it feel like our own day.
The wedensday before, we are going to a nightclub (The Prophecy Bar) to hear their houseband (The Gritz) and eat dinner somewhere close by.
1. a nice couple's massage
2. dinner at a nice restaurant (days before or days after Valentine's day)
3. a night a a hotel ( some have nice romantic packages)
4. a picnic
