I wanted to write my own vows I think that is so romantic, however I think that I maybe too emotional to recite them so I found some vows online that I really like, and am going to let the pastor read them and we will recite them. Let me know if you ladies like the vows.
Bride to Groom
I (brides name) take you, (grooms name),
to be my lawfully wedded husband,
secure in the knowledge that you will be
my constant friend,
my faithful partner in life,
and my one true love.
On this special day,
I give to you
in the presence of God and all those in attendance
my sacred promise to stay by your side as your faithful wife
in sickness and in health,
in joy and in sorrow, as well as
through the good times and the bad.
I promise to love you without reservation,
comfort you in times of distress,
encourage you to achieve higher goals,
laugh with you and cry with you,
grow with you in mind and spirit,
always be open and honest with you,
and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.
Groom to Bride

knowing in my heart that you will be
my constant friend,
my faithful partner in life,
and my one true love.

and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.
We are not writing our own vows but I do like these vows Housewife! They are really the tradtional vows but witha little twist. I may have to cop those for use at our ceremony if my husband likes them.
I think thats just the icing on the cake, to say your on vows.I would love to say my own.I went to a wedding once when a girlfriend of mines was getting married and she recited her on vows over a loud speaker to her husband as she walked down the aisle. Her husband didnt even know she was doing it,it was a suprise to him and he just broke down crying as she was walking and saying them.It as soooooo romantic it set the whole wedding off.
THOSE VOWS ARE BEAUTIFUL. ON A LIGHTER NOTE, I NOTICED YOU DID NOT SAY FOR RICHER OR POORER.LOL I AM NOT MAD GIRL, I HEAR YOU!!!! YES WE ARE DOING OUR OWN VOWS AT HIS INSISTANCE. HE'S WRITING HIS. I'M WRITING MINE. I'VE BORROWED A LITTLE FROM HERE AND THERE. ALL HOW I ACTUALLY FEEL AND WLD LIKE HIM TO KNOW. THEY ARE NOT FINISHED BUT WHAT DO YOU LADIES THINK SO FAR?
IT SEEMS FOREVER THAT I HAVE WAITED FOR YOU. IN A WORLD OF DISAPPOINTMENT, ONE THING I'VE FOUND TO BE TRUE. GOD BLESSED ME WHEN HE SENT ME YOU. IN A WORLD OF LONELY PEOPLE, I HAVE YOU.
FROM THIS DAY FORWARD, YOU SHALL NOT WALK ALONE. MY HEART WILL BE YOUR SHELTER, MY ARMS WILL BE YOUR HOME. YOUR SECRETS I WILL KEEP, WORDS OF LOVE, I'LL ONLY SPEAK. MY FIDELITY YOU WILL HAVE FROM THIS DAY TO OUR LAST. FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. FOR RICHER OR FOR POORER (MAYBE):)IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH FROM THIS DAY FORWARD.

Housewife and Taj that's beautiful. As was already mentioned - I'll need help getting through the traditional vows let alone remembering any that I've created. But the idea is definitely sentimental and romantic.
"Today Frustration sat across the table from me, Anger sat next to him mocking me, Criticism sat behind me laughing, but to my right sat Faith and she held my hand. To my left sat Perseverance and she whispered in my ear "you can do it"
We weren't gonna say our own vows, but we decided to pre-record something for each other. My part to be played just before I walk down the aisle. His part to be played while we are at the alter. We won't know until that day whats recorded. Tell me what yall think!!! The traditional will be incorporated in there after his part is played.
I like that idea. That way you can boo hoo and he'll still be able to understand what your heart is saying and vice versa. lolol

I would like to say my own vows but I have written so many drafts I have stopped for the moment. My Pastor is going to give me some things to say to build a foundation on...I think he said that I need to mention a few important things, like love, honor, obey (yep, that too), and some other things mentioned in the bible. I had planned on saying something like that anyways, but the hardest part is verbalizing how I feel about how far we've come and trusting God, and having faith in his promise to me, and all that stuff.
YES PUREBLISS. REMEMBER I SAID I TOOK A LITTLE FROM HERE AND A LITTLE FROM THERE BUT ALL HOW I REALLY FEEL.BUT ISN'T EVERYTHING IN A SONG??

I really thought about it, but I too am a very emotionally person. you know the type that can't get a word out, because of the "crying pause"? :)) So I think I'm just going to write what I want to say to him in the card I give with his gift and let Pastor tell me what to say!!! :))))
Although I know that it will be extremely difficult for me not to cry, we've decided to write our own vows to each other. I'm still working on mine, but so far this is what I have.
Wow baby, here we are. You have no idea what being here with you means to me, well, maybe you do. To have someone in your life, who loves you as fully and completely as you love them, that's rare, special and something to be cherished. Oh honey, how I cherish what we have. We
We have yet to decide what we are going to do about our vows. I do know that my emotions will be out of control, so I'm not sure that I will be able to handle reading my vows, but I won't rule it out just yet! I'll let you all know once we make our decision!
Wow!!! Thank you sisters!!! Special thank yous to Platinum, TiffyB, Teresa and Mrspotts. It all came from the heart. Since my sisters (vibride sisters) like it so much and seem to think that my FH will as well, I could put a check on that list, rewrite it on beautiful note cards and put it away as done.
Are any of you writing you own wedding vows?
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
I plan on to. I just don't know if I will be able to get through. I'm such an emotional person.
I wanted to, but hubby didn't want to. it was cool though because I couldn't even get through the traditional vows without being a basket case.
