LoLo, unfortunately changing your mind about a dress is VERY common. Once you find what you think THE dress is, you have to stop looking at other dresses because chances are, you will see something that you hadn't seen before and start questioning your choices. Happens all the time. Most change of hearts regarding a dress actually stem from rethinking budgets, not trends. Trends do change but often those trends change over multiple years, not just one year. You really can't tell the difference between a designers 2006, 2007 and 2008 collections. So it's safe to say that your dress from this year will look just as trendy next year.

Pam's right. Many people consider the money part. Your cousin's girl is right about the trends too, but like Pan said, those more slower. My friend got married in late 06, but she'd had her dress for a whole year cause she loved it. I don't know if she didn't look at other dresses after that, but she stuck with the one she paid for.
My dress was picked about 6 months before the wedding, but it was a dress that was actually popular in previous seasons....So just remember trends are just what they are-temporary. Sometimes its better to go for a more classic look, that TRANSCENDS the time. Picking a "trendy" dress can be dangerous...Have you seenn wedding dresses of the 80's? But a classic look will make you see your pictures in 10-20 years, and still smile....
So is up to you. Always pray on the dress, but if you love it. Go for it!

LoLo, your cousin's girl just don't know. There's only THE dress! The only time I've seen the dress change, is due to complications. But Pam is right. No one can tell how "old" your dress is. Kee, is also right about choosing a trendy dress. Most brides choose "can't go wrong" simple designs.
I was talking to my husband last night about doing an vow renewal, simply so I can wear my dress again! But we know it's too soon. Yes, I wore my DREAM dress (word to Phenomonique for delivery and Maggie Sottero for making it!) and I didn't stay in it long enough! Lucky for me, it was in my price range! I choose my dress, day after my hubby proposed! I saw it months before, in a magazine. I had my dress, in my possession, a YEAR before I got married.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Lolo, I hate to echo the sentiments of my Diva sisters, but your cousin's girlfriend is partially right. You may change your mind somewhere down the line. I myself have changed my mind 4 times in regards to my wedding gown and now, I've got it down to 2 choices. Check out my blog. I don't know about trends and all, but there are some brides whom when they see their "it" gown it's it for them. Since you've already given a down payment on yours, you're totally stuck with it, but oh, I love your gowns, both of them. You are doing this in true Diva style sister. Don't take it the wrong way. I'm sure your cousin's girlfriend didn't mean to offend you, but I wouldn't include her in the bridal party though. You don't need anything negative around you on your magnificent day.

Hey LoLo- congratulations on finding the ONE!!You know what since I have been engaged I have looked at and fallen in love with dozens of dresses- not sure how many. But to be honest I have never seen a dress that took my breath away in that 'this is my dream dress' way and I cant wait for that moment- I look at some of the dresses I fell in love with when I first started looking and I HATE them- not even kidding- My taste has changed because I keep seeing different styles, fashion etc. But I believe that when I find the one all that wont matter :)
But on the other hand I have friends who bought their dresses first and then chose everything else- eg one of my friends is getting married next March and she has had her dress for as long as I can remember- For her she couldnt do anything until she had it- On this site so many ladies have changed- even bought multiple dresses- no names mentioned but you know who you are ladies
So there....two sides to the argument
Well said ladies.lm happy to say that both my dresses are well within my budget range,so thats a plus! Was thiniking it will be wiser to cross off things off my list as l go rather than have a million things to get a month b4. Also l guess its harder to take advice from some1 hasnt been in the same situation, but hey thats what makes this site a home.
