Did you know that it was customary for the wedding cake to have Charms "hidden" under each slice, and bridesmaids pull the ribbons to reveal silver charms that hint at their future. Cool ah!
Traditionally, there were six charms:
1. The Heart ? ?Love will come?
2. The Clover ? ?Good luck?
3. The Engagement Ring ? ?Next to marry?
4. The Anchor ? ?Adventure awaits?
5. The Flower ? ?Love will flower?
6. The Horseshoe ? ?Lucky in life?
It would be nice to revive this...it'll be different that's for sure :-)

Ok Charley so How does it get into the cake? Does the baker place them under the slices or what? I've seen those on alot of different site when searching for wedding stuff but I never knew what they meant....they seem pretty cool.

Good Question AllieS!

I will assume that they are inserted after the cake has been cooled and right before frosting...it would the sensible thing to do I would think....or I hope, but I am sure it is pretty much done that way.
And I think there is a seperate cake specifically for this purpose, I am not sure but I don't think it will be appropriate to do it to the bride and groom's cake.

You take them to your baker. They will put them in when assembling the cake. They are attached to long ribbons and the girls pull them out one at a time. They will tell the bridesmaid's future. Ribbon Pulling Charms mean things like and anchor for adventure, an engagement ring means she will marry soon, heart means she will find a new love, etc.
