I am scheduled to have my wedding ceremony and reception at the same place, however I needed a place to take pics. There is no parks in the town that I am hosting my wedding so one of the sales rep. suggested this mansion that's in the next town over. I went there and the place is lovely. They have all kinds of diffrent flowers planted all around, diffrent fountains, rose gardes, etc... So I was thinking about changing my wedding ceremony site and having it at this historical site. As I was talking to the rep for this site, she informed me that I would have to have 1 million dollar wedding insurance. I was like whoa. One of my bridesmaids does commerical insurance so I called her and her company does offer wedding insurance. She came to my house and showed me the different policies and what it included. It included cancellation's or postponements, vendors canceling or going out of business, covers wedding attire if it get damaged or lost, jewelry, lost deposits, severe weather, transportation, call of duty, damaged gifts, sudden illness of the bride, groom, or there parents that cause them to cancel or postpone the wedding, and protection in the event that a guest gets injuried or cause damage to the property( which is a biggie for me since I will be serving alcohol). I can even add all of the events that will be going on like bridal showers and bachloreete party. The insurance is good from the date you first enroll to the day after the wedding. I am not sure about you, but this never crossed my mind. So I was wondering how many of you brides will be getting your wedding insured?

WOW!!! It never crossed my mind but I am going to look into it. It would be a great idea for me because both me and FH are in the military and can be deployed at any time. Thanks for the heads up.

I have looking into wedding insurance for postponements, cancellations, etc. I wanted a facility that would let me bring in my own food and liquor and they have all required liquor liability insurance. House it sounds like what your friend showed you is a combination of the two. Its not a bad idea for the piece of mind it gives!
Yeah she showed me the policy for the 1 million dollar liability and the cancelation, damaged, illness, etc.. policy. I was very interested in it since I found out that God forbid if any of my guest get into an accident I will be held liable since I will be serving drinks.

In the UK, wedding insurance is a common thing. It doesn't have to cost very much either - it's just for piece of mind in case anything goes wrong (which we all hope it won't)! I'll be getting wedding insurance as soon as I've sorted out most of my details....
GREAT TOPIC HOUSE!
If I needed it, I definitely would have gotten it...

I like it because you can never be to safe.We tend to spend lots of money on weddings, and occasionally one of the vendors dont show up, cars break down, venues close, etc.. and we are stuck worrying about it because we have no back up plan. I would rather have a piece of mind that I am some what covered in the event that something goes wrong, instead of just being assed out and trying to pull money from somewhere.

House, tell us more....How does it work? So if the caterer doesn't show does the insurance pay out the loss? Does the insurance provide another caterer? Do tell!

well I guess I am a bad hostess! LOL considering I am getting married at the church and no alcohol is involved I am not going to even stress about this insurance.
It's not just for alcholic purposes, anything can happen. For 1 million dollars of liablity insurance it was only 160 dollars.
