Ladies,
For some reason my mind a has drawn a blank when it comes to putting together the reception menu. I know I want heavy hors d'oeuvres. Just not exactly sure what I want. I want more than the average hot wing, meatball reception.( not that there's anything wrong with this) I just want my day to ne exceptional. Would you ladies care to share some of your menu ideas and help me get mine together.

I looked at about 10-15 different menus that hotels in Orlando were offering, but prices truly drove our choices. Many places offer very fancy hors d'oeuvres that are very delicious, but you have to consider your guests....if they are just some down home people like ours, then you may waste money on something too too fancy cause they'll pick over it....But there isn't gonna be any wings here either.
-We will definitely have a fruit display, vegetable display, cheese and crackers display but we haven't decided on the meat yet....There will also be fresh citrus punch, and this is just the hors d'oeuvres.
-For the dinner we will do a simple buffet...chicken, beef, seasonal vegetable medley, herb seasoned red potatoes, one other starch, and we are considering a vegetble and pasta dish for the non-meat eaters.....coffee, tea, water, and wedding cake for dessert. Our favors are going to be cookies so add variety to the dessert. But I read that dessert tables are so popular now.
-You can also google reception menus, and check out theknot.com website for food ideas.
I hope this helps.

while i know that hors d'oeuvres is pronounced "or-dervs" whenever I see it I think of Cole from Martin calling them Horse Divers - hahaha.

My reception is heavy hors d'oeuvres, so I'll share what's being served. Assorted fresh fruit (for early arrivers), fresh fruit display with sauce, light veggies w/ ranch sauce, gourmet and domestic chess with asst. crackers, 2 pasta salads (one ranch based and one italian based), 2 carving stations with asst rolls (honey ham and smoked turkey breast), jazzy yellow rice pilaf jambalaya, grilled chicken on skewers, and a fruit punch fountain. Whew! I think I just realized again that it's pretty much a meal. Anyway, I hope this gives you some ideas.
