Bold TextHello ladies, I know I haven't been on here in awhile what a bad member I am lol..But I've just been planning for the big day which is JULY 7th 2007 YAY!!! I got engaged in Feb. & I started finding out different things to do right away I found out it is nice to plan in advance. The Only thing I was trying not to rush on was the bridesmaids dresses I told them they wouldn't have to worry about getting them by no later than march. I've had to change the colors of the dress 2 times thanks to david's bridal and afterhours not have all the same colors and I wanted a soft pink But my thing is these two stores work together they have an afterhours consultant in their stores But don't have all the same colors :(..which set me back a little b/c i have 11 bridesmaids all of whom are spread throughout the united states so you know they want to know how much what color everything..THen foolin with david's bridal the dress I wanted for my girls I've heard about 20 different stories some say the dress is popular but the color my not be in and the girls would have to order them in december I found this out in december & it is december now so I didn't think it would be fair to put that on someone to have to rush and they're not even sure if the color is going or staying.. so now I have to wait for the new spring 07' catalog to come out which is a little stressful b/c I don't want to have to pick out awhole new color again! & I'm also looking for a dj and a limo & i didn't realize limo's where so expensive & i am from a small city about 35-45 minutes outside of pittsburgh i live in ohio on the border so they are extra expensive and there is no competition there they only have 1 limo company and if they come from pittsburgh they only give you like 4 hrs of time which would be cuttin it close if there was traffic or anything! So if there is anyone on here who is from the pittsburgh area or you are from cleveland and know some good dj's PLEASE PLEASe LET ME KNOW! Ladies please pray for me lol B/c I am starting to feel the stress...

Not from the area, but I happen to be using Davids as well. Yes they do have a crazy rotating selection, however if you have choosen a particular style/color and that's what you really want...well let your BM's know that the deadline has moved up. One thing that I have learned is not to give TOO much leeway with the girls, because some WILL wait untill the very last minute, and ANYTHING can go wrong. I belive it's a 6 week wait to get a BM dress in + time for alterations. Remember these are your good friends, BUT this is your wedding.
You might want to check on-line for a limo Co./yellow pages??
keep us posted.
Hi there cec, welcome back. I worked with Davids with no problem. But I only have 2 BM's so its different. MsBoston is right, don't give girls any leeway because you will run into a time crunch soon (my brother is getting married that SAME day you are) and until those dresses arrive, you will NOT know how much alterations will be needed so definitely try to have your coordinator help you enforce the deadlines for ordering the dresses and let them know that you will not be able to help them if they wait too late cause alterations take atleast 3+ weeks-depending on the need. As far as the limo's just shop around, and also consider renting a car. You are not required to haul all your BM's around in a limo.

The ladies are absolutely right. You don't want to be in a time crunch with alterations and everything. Trust me I was in a time crunch and it will drive you crazy.

Hey CeCe! I am going to use David's Bridal as well because, like you, my BMs are spread across the east coast.
Here is an idea for your limo. Did you look into cars? Maybe you have a limo take you and the BMs to the ceremony and then send them on their way. You can have a car (like a Rolls or something) pick you and your new husband up from the church and take you to where you are going to after the ceremony.
Your BMs and Ushers can use their own transportation (ride with each other in their cars or with their spouses, etc.) After you get to the reception you can have the car leave and then have them come back and pick you up. This way you bill will not be going up by the hour. You will not be charged for the time you are not using the service.
Awesome advice DW! Check out limo prices and ratings. Make sure that they are reliable. Sometimes you get what you pay for though and a bargain is not a bargain. So like DW says if you ar gonna splurge make sure it is on you and your future hubby!

Thanks Ladies! I thought the march deadline for dress ordering was ok but when I say march I mean Beginning! But as far as renting cars as a total it will be 22 of us & that's alot of car renting lol & that's why i was saying there is only 1 cab company in the area I'm gettin married and the other one in pittsburgh is 35-45 min away which I may just have to go with.
WElcome cece. My BM will also be ordering their dresses in March, but my wedding isn't until September. Another thing, about the limos: Your limo company should not be charging you for traffic to get to you. Your time should start at the time they get to you not from the time they leave the garage.
cece just want to add too (becasuse from experience) that by giving you BM an absolute deadline, you really can learn who is serious about the responsibility it takes to be a BM. Some have the idea that they just get to dress up and show up...NOT the case. Being a BM is so much more. Not to be a controlling Bridezilla, but I did FWD: a link from theknot.com describing other tasks that your BM's can do to make the day easier on the bride. I know it'll be hard w/yours being out of state and all, but sometimes the ladies (esp the single ones) don't understand all that planning a wedding takes. You really can't babysit them through the whole process, you'll have too many other things to think/worry about. Just a thought.
Well said MsBoston!
