What do you think about me having my bridemaids pick out their own dress. I will be more specific....I saw an episode on sex and the city where Charlotte (go figure) was getting married and Carri, Maranda and Samantha all picked out their own gowns...they were all the same color but a different style all together, I thought that was so wonderful and seriously thinking about it...what is you take on that idea?

I've heard of brides having different style dresses in the same color. As I always say Charly it is your wedding day, do it your way. I'm sure that this idea will be a hit because the ladies will have an opportunity to buy a dress that they themselves picked out. It can work. My bridal party has the same dress, but different colors (my sister is the only one that put up a fuss, but when I told her I wasn't changing my mind, she quickly stopped the nonsense!).

Put up or shut up ah!?...that'll hold her. Hey I was about to ask if anyone was doing a "rainbow" wedding, I have not seen that in a long while.....what is the primary color you are using for decorations and your programmes? and what color is your maid/matron of honor wearing?

My colors are navy blue and platinum. My bridesmaids are wearing navy and the MOHs are wearing platinum. The programs are like a grey color on the outside and I will have them printed with navy blue ink on the inside. I found programs that are navy and silver, truly awesome and the decorations will be navy and platinum as well. All of my tablecloths will be white. I hope I have painted a good picture for you.

Good enough for me to squint...lol, that mean I am thinking and I gat it. How many MOH's are you having and what flowers are you using?

Hey Charly I have two MOHs and 2 bridesmaids and one princess bridesmaid (my daughter). I am using silk flowers, I haven't decided on what kind as yet.

But are you incorporating both colors in the flowers or you are sticking to one specific color?
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
My flowers will most likely be a blue and white combination. I haven't thought about incorporating platinum, I don't know how that would look.

That is something you will have to look at cause that is your colors and you don't want it to be off.

Maybe I could incorporate platinum ribbon and in this way all the colors would be included.

Try it both ways to get a visual...I'm squinting cause I am trying to figure out how navy blue and white flowers are gonna look on a platinum dress as oppose to navy and platinum flowers with white ribbon on a platinum dress.....hmmm!

Charly you know I don't know what I am doing. I will however test and figure out what is the best combination.

That's ok girl...it's a learning process for everyone of us....even though I been married before but I had my share of nightmares about what I wish I could've done over, so relax :-)

I was in a wedding end of 2004 where the bride allowed us to pick our own pieces. She choose the color, but let us pick our own skirts & tops. It was cool to me!
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

My theme is Birds of Paradise so the main colors are tropical orange and sunshine yellow with green and violet accents. Each of the ladies in the bridal party will be wearing the orange that best compliments their skin tone and they have their choice of three dresses i've picked out for each of them. I figure, I love them all for different reasons and i want that to be reflected in how uniquely beautiful they look on my wedding day.
What a lovely team.I can tell by your wods that these people are very dear to you.
You know Nikki, i just re-read my post and i hadn't realized how much my bridesmaids and MOHs mean to me. The thing i love about each of them is we've never been in competition so i want them to work the aisle like a runway because their "fierceness" only makes me more "fierce".
I wan them to have the same color but pick their own style b/c they have different shapes. I think in the end it looks really pretty. I will however give them a limited selection of tops and bottoms that fit the occasion.

I dont care who has what shape, who is what complexion, how old you are, this is my day and you will wear what I say. I love all the girls in my bridal party, they are the sisters that I never had. My ride or die chicks, so I know that they trust me, and that they wouldnt mind wearing which ever dress I decided as long as I am happy.

but do you feel limited in your selection b/c you have to accomodate (I know I can't spell) everyone with one dress? I have seen both cases in weddings and it always looks great. A stylish person has a beautiful day that is why my tacky self is worried. LOL

I have seen a dress that I love for my bridesmaids and it is like mine. I personally dont want my bridesmaids to wear diffrent dresses. I want them to wear the exact same dress. My dress is champagne with a latte sash, and my bridesmaids dress is latte with a champagne sash. I really dont care if they like the dress or not, or if they each want to wear diffrent dresses. This is my wedding and I feel that the less opinions I have the less problems. If I map everything out all they have to do is follow it. I am not asking them to except the noble peace prize with this dress on, I am only asking them to wear it for about 5 hours. If they dont want to , not a problem they can be replaced. When it is all said and done this is my wedding and it will go how I want it. If the shoe was on the other foot and they asked me to be in their wedding I would respect there wishes and do what they would like.
