ladies who have already purchased your cakes... whats your flavor? what kind of cake did you purchase? when did you order? and what was your budget?
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda
I havent ordered a cake yet but I did go look at some. Since I am on a tight budget I cant spend over $250 for a cake, hopefully I wont have to spend that much. I was thinking about chocolat cake for one layer and german chocolate for another since thats FH and I favorite flavors. The place I went to is in HP and they said you have to order at least a week in advance. I think it alldepends on the place you go to. Some places have a waiting list just to order a cake.
That's true Allies. A lot of the bridal check lists suggest that you order your cake at least three months in advance. I will probably order it some time next month. Future I really wanted a red velvet cake. I don't know if Walmart does red velvet cakes, but if I can get even a small one I would be one happy camper!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
I like red velvete cake too. AND it would go just great with my wedding colors....lol. Rhonda try going to a small bakery to get your red velvet cake and then the other cake from walmart. That way you can take that cake home.At the reception I doubt you really eat the cake anyway besides the first bite with FH.

4.Yellow rum cake with whie chocolate mousse ( sister aged 34)

Loving the 19year old's request!

She gave me a list with about 50 cake and filling combinations aside from the ones the others had selected. And I told her to just pick one or I'd cal out a random number and whatever that corresponded to would be her pick!
[quote="SeptBride"]My favorite cake is corny, but I love it.
It's yellow cake with fresh Strawberry & Banana filling. But, I also like carrot cake and cheesecake.

*drooling like homer simpson* mmmm... cheesecake.

My auntie is baking my cake for me and we are going with a Lemon cake butter cream icing. She does everything from scatch so I can't wait. I'm a picky cake eater, so for my wedding it has to be a for real HOMEMADE cake...
my wedding cake will be white cake with buttercreme icing, 3 tiers; btm layer-white, middle layer white w/stawberry filling, and top white w/no filling.
by the way, how many of you ladies are keeping your top layer? I am not sure if we will do this-my last marriage when we ate the cake 1 yr later it was sooooooo nasty!! :(
Ordered/paid for my cake already ...$400 ...3 tier yellow cake w/strawberry filling and creamchesse icing. 2 groom's cake, chocolate/chocolate with strawberries on top ..:)
We have a 3 layer cake
the bottom layer is almond cake with a pineapple filling, the middle cake is yellow cake with fresh strawberry, and the top layer is a strawberry cake with just cream cheese frosting

IMO that IS too much for a cake Teresa. Try looking around more. Try unconventional places also like Costco, Walmart, and supermarkets.
Our cake will have 4 tiers. I have no idea what flavors yet but one will be chocolate cake with whipped cream and another will be yellow cake with fresh strawberries.
We will save the top tier but our bakery actually makes you a fresh cake when you bring in the top tier on your anniversary.

I am going to check Publix and see if they will do that! Also we did our cake at a grocer, and we saved a lot of money! We probably should have ordered a larger cake cause I don't think we had any leftover cake it was that good!
Ive finally picked out a cake that i like i found it online so now i have to find someone to make it , its beautifull and it looks like pillows but its four tiers.Dont know what flavor yet.
FH and I just returned from cake tasting this past weekend! It was so fun and yummy:) We sampled white with straw. filling, choc. with choc. mousse, white with white choc. mousse, and several others, but in the end, we all loved the traditional white almond with butter cream frosting, so that is what we will be having!
FH and I are having a 3 tiered white almond cake w/buttercream icing; I am going ot have him a choc cake/choc buttercreme icing made to look like a turntable (since he is an ex dj) for the grooms cake
Ours is a 5-tier wedding cake ~ white cake, white chocolate mousse filling, and Butter Cream Icing.
The floral arrangement on top will be a mixture of Daphne Rose and Merlot Roses.
