Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Unfortunately VIPrincessBride, the matter of my Bridesmaids' gowns, the Ladies-In-Waiting's gowns and my MOH's gown, has already been decided. I gave them a choice of 10 gowns to choose from. My only requirement was that it had to be exquisely elegant and the colors must be Dusty Rose/Daphne Rose and Merlot/Wine. I also told them that I get to approve their final choices. I have 8 bridesmaids and they've already picked who wears what, so I'm straight on that.

What I haven't picked out though is a gown for my Junior Bridesmaids. I was looking at this choice http://www.marysbridal.com/modernmaids/m1165.htm
Fortunately for me they don't get a vote. When the time comes, I will show the gown to their parents. It's really nice of you to look out for me this way. Thank you so very much sister.

Pam - I'm way ahead of myself here, I know, but let me know what you think. Tap into that creativity that you're famous for. I was thinking of using the Martini glasses as my base, ok?

Then I would use the Mystic Crystals and they'll expand in the glasses, then I would use the floral arrangement that are on top of this one to finish the look.

Try to picture the martini glasses as the holder, the crystals within the martini glasses as eye candy, then the floral arrangements on top to finish the look. What do you think? Honestly.

Oh, I see. Yep, that's one of the dresses I posted. The junior maids will look very pretty.

Thank you so much VIPrincess for your invaluable help. You've got me going back to that book of mine (Mary's Bridal) in order to really look through the gowns you've suggested to see if they have appropriate Junior Bridesmaids dresses.

This is what I'm thinking about for the Flowergirls. What do you think? Style: #S07F760. I don't know how to post it so it would take you directly there unfortunately. What do you think? Isn't it just the perfect thing?

I can see that and I think that would be really nice with your theme. Good job.

Oh, what a sweet flower girl dress. It's precious. An event planer colleague of mine mentioned that she saved money for her own wedding by purchasing dresses at Burllington Coat Factory at Easter time. That's another idea.

Girl Yes!!! My flowergirl dress and hostess dresses came from Burlington Coat Factory. I paid less than $30 for each. Best deal going. It's a good place to find Mother of Bride dress also although my mother ordered hers from Chadwick's mail catalog.

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Thank you so much ladies.

VIPrincess, it was the sweetest flowergirl's gown I've ever seen. It's part of my choice, and now that you've mentioned Burlington, I'm going to go over there tomorrow and see what they've got. Mary's flowergirl dress is very nice, but pricey also, that dress I showed you was nearly $200. I'm looking to save the mothers some money. Someone else also mentioned another website to me.

Pam, I'm about to order the Chadwicks magazine now. Although, both my mother and grand mother passed away 11 and 12 years ago respectively, I'd love to find something wonderful for my MIL.

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

As mentioned on another sister's blog, I think it's very important to register. My FH and I did and so very glad too because for the past 3 weeks, we've been receiving packages, some small, some big, but all from our registry. I open them so that I could catalog everything we've received and from whom so that we could send "thank you cards" promptly.

So far, we've received 4 5-piece place settings of Lenox "Opal Innocence". It looks like this

I've gotten 2 gravy boats in the same Lenox "Opal Innocence". Salt and Pepper shaker. I also got the coffe pot, the creamer and sugar bowl in another gift basket. I also got 2 Noritake "Sweet Leilani 42pc china set, and I'm beginning to receive some pieces from my Noritake Crestwood Cobalt set.

Prior to my grandmother's passing, she gifted me with her china set. My grandmother had the complete "Royal Doulton Country Roses" china set. We use to eat on it every christmas when I was a child in Haiti. It was the single possession my grandmother came to the United States with her when she immigrated. My grandmother has since passed, as I've previously said. Now that I'm getting married, I'm looking forward to using my collection with my new husband and making some memories of our own together. It's a very extensive collection and it's a service for 12. I even have the colander. I watch over it as a mother would a child, not because I couldn't find the pieces to replace, but because it was given to me by my paternal grandmother in pristine condition and I want to do my utmost to keep it that way.

I'll keep sharing with you sisters as I get more things. I'm so excited!!! When I receive something, I look a them, leave the box open so FH could see them and then carefully rebox them and set them aside. I'm using a corner of my dining area to store my boxes as we'll be moving to Florida after we're married.

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Hi Ginoue,

Did you also come across the rest of the Lenox Opal Innocence stuff? ...especially the flute set and knife and server set?

Lenox Opal Innocence

I really liked their knife and server set and thought about purchasing it to go with the Waterford crystal flutes the jewelry store gave us with the engagement ring, but decided to go with something else.

No problem. You know you've got to "coordinate." :o) I noticed they have some other nice Opal Innocence knives and servers on that website that are more expensive. Maybe someone could gift them to you if you wanted them.

Here's a description: The handle is crafted of fine china with an opalescent luster. Pearl-like, hand-enameled dots provide the perfect finishing touch. Matching cake knife also available. Crafted of Lenox white bone china accented with precious platinum. Blade crafted of 18/10 stainless steel.

I found it on the David's Bridal website as well.

Wow, what wonderful Mosaic. I'm enjoying the pictures very much. Mind if I use them VIPrincess, to add to my collection? Because for the reception, I was planning on naming the tables after famous stars of the silver screen, instead of having the table number. My plan is to have a black and white picture of the star for which the table is named on each table. For example "Elizabeth Taylor", "Dorothy Dandridge", "Audrey Hepburn", etc... I envisioned that I would need about 20 - 25 pictures altogether.

Thanks a million

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Ladies, I'm so very glad this is my blog so I can vent as much as I want to. I'm contemplating murder, yes, I said murder. Ok, rewind. FH just got me so boiling mad. Why are men such babies? Here's the thing. FH's mom wants to give an engagement party for us. No problem there. She picked the date, sent out her ivites and since we had a photog anyway, all was covered. Now my sisters, you all know that FH and I don't live together and we only see each other 2 weekends and month, if I'm not working. It's either he comes to me or I go to him. Anywhoo, this man had the nerve to remove his goatee!!!

Earlier, I received a call from his mother asking me if I've spoken with FH. I started to worry and wanted to know what's wrong. She told me that she was too irritated with him at the moment. Now, I'm really concerned. Then she told me to call my husband. I said ok, I will. Now before I had a chance to call bro'man, he calls me apologizing. Now all sorts of wild thoughts are going through my head and I swear that the first words that came out of my mouth were "What did you do?" He said don't get upset, "but I had to shave my goatee". I'm like why? He said he went to the barber shop for a hair cut and his guy wasn't there. Now this new guy did his hair and it was fine so he had the guy trim his goatee and when the guy was finished, he was looking like a billy goat. I'm trying hard not to laugh and to feigh anger. So I said, why didn't you just turn away when your guy wasn't there? His answer? Now wait for it ladies!!! "I dunno". Yep, that's what he said. So I told him baby please don't take this the wrong way, but you're a lot shorter than I and very, very thin. By removing your facial hair, you would look like a child." Then he told me that's why his mom is upset with him about. See, FH has had this goatee for nearly 8 years and every 2 weeks, he gets a trim and my baby looked great with his goatee, so I had him send me a picture, just to see the damage, and here they are. Pictures from his cell phone, fresh from the barbershop. Now keep in mind that this man is 28 years old, nearly 29; 5'6" and weighs 135 lbs, then to turn around and shave off the one thing that made him sort of look his age. I've never seen him without the goatee. He's like a totally different person.

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Ok, I'm over my shock and back to blogging.

New issue, I'm currently working on our Newsletter. We're planning on sending 4 out throughout the course of our planning (quarterly). I've got the layout all worked out and am now working on content. But first, FH and I need to send out "Will you" cards. I've racked my brain to find something truly inspiring to say, but didn't get too far.

The wording:

A picture-perfect wedding isn't caught on film, it's captured in the heart. Like a garden in the spring, life is full of wonderful things. Our eyes met and from the start, love was planted in our hearts. Yet, our happiness would be incomplete without you there to share it with. Will you do us the honor of celebrating our love by being my bridesmaid? (or whatever the attendant role happen to be. You guys get the meaning)

Springfield Gardens, New York

With much love,
Fortune Mickaella Genevieve Calixte

So what else do you ladies think I could say here? I'm drawing a blank. I'm still thinking though, but any and all suggestions would be welcomed. I hope to have this all finished so that I could order my note cards and have them sent out by October 17th, 2008

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Thanks Teresa, but I've never seen him without his sideburns that run into his goatee. You're absolutely right though, he's still my man. I love him beyond all measure. It was just the shock of it all. Even his mom was shocked. We've gotten used to the sideburns and goatee, oh well.

The party is scheduled for September 10th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and photog said that we'd have the pics by the 14th. So upon my return to MD, I'm floading my blog with pics.

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

I know, right Pebbles. I don't know how I'll react when I see him in a few weeks. I've never seen him all cleaned up and such, but believe me, he will be 29 years old on December 23rd. Oh well, and he said that he's not sure if he'll grow it back. I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Look at the bright side G, when he is an old fart at 60 or 70 he will look young like 40 or 50. Lol J/K

Re: GINOUE'S BLOG

Are you robbing the cradle Ms. Thang? Didn't you recently send your daughter off to college? LOL Do what you have to do ma! Are you re-taking your engagement pictures this trip to Fort Lauderdale? Make sure you monitor the weather, these storms are coming back to back.
We look forward to seeing the pictures from your party.
