I did have a cousin who I thought would've given a gift, but didn't. Since he came into a lot of money about five years ago (over a million $). He has made it a habit to come to weddings and family functions empty handed -- not giving anything. My wedding was the one that he started his tacky tradition of not bring a gift or bringing money with. Family members are really starting to talk about him. It's all good though because I have what's important. He on the other hand is miserable.

Rhony is there someone in your family who is close to this cousin that may have some inside knowledge of why this cousin is acting this way now? This is so strange considering he used to give. There may be more to it than anyone knows. Not trying to make an excuse for him, but it's just to strange to stop giving altogether.

My aunt (the same one who would whip us with the switches -- LOL!)has said that she will speak to him. Since he has come into this money he's always saying "nobody better not ask me for nothing!". What he doesn't realized is that while everyone is happy for him, no one has any intention of asking him for anything. My cousin has MS -multiple sclerosis and has been very distant and angry. I'm sure he has a lot going on with him, and that is probably why he's acting the way he is. We all used to be very close, but I don't know why he's resorted to acting so weird on us. He's even estranged from his only brother. We just want to go back to the normal way of treating each other.

Rhonda, there are some people who can't handle success or money. A lot of people who have won the lottery aren't any happier than they were before and some do become very miserable, even suicidal. They also say that a person's true character comes out after they get some money and success.
Or did anyone register for fancy china and stuff? Im going to buy one set this year and one set when I am thirty whether I get married or not. I want to give them to the two daughters I plan to have or adopt.
I want to get two sets of silver also.
WE paid for ours 100%. We were offered, but declined respectfully. His parents bought us a new SUV as a wedding gift. Maybe because we didn't ask for any help. I don't know, but what a blessing!
We did get very nice China put on the registry at Macy's. My DH thought it would be fun to pick a fancy Vera Wang Set so we did, and someone actually BOUGHT 10 of the 12 Sets. I'm excited because I wanted something to pass to my own children.
I put some mid-level $$ range sets of Silver on the registry but I didn't get it. However, we got 2 sets of cheaper Silver which are very very nice. It wasn't on the Registry but its like enough for like 16 place settings and some extra.
I put a couple pieces of nice Crystal and got those. I also put a nice Silver Buffet Server and got it too. We put a lot of fancy items on their for fun and got them anyways. However, those who put it on their were older people with Traditional Values which was an unexpected Blessing. Have fun making a registry, and Make it personal: I also put an Aero Bed, and some other Non-traditional details too.

I know right Pamcrow. I wish my new MIL would get me an SUV. Just kidding though.
As for the fine china pieces, I'm registered at Macy's and JCPenneys and I placed a lot of high end things on there because the first registry we did, my MIL was like (are you two serious?) We were thinking of putting some mid level things on there so more people would have a wider array of choices, but she convinced us that we needed high end things as well. We kept the mid level things on and added lots and lots of china. She advised us to pick at least 3 different sets of 12s, and I'm so glad we did. I don't know if it's because we're getting closer to the date, but we've been receiving things at least once or twice a week for about 2 weeks now.
I'm so excited. I'm like a kid in a candy shop. I can't wait to see what comes this week. I'm going to go back to my blog and see if I could post some picks of some of them.
Yeah, I take care of that SUV too. My spoiled DH doesn't wash it when it needs to or nothing. So I take care of it. I drive it mostly anyways, and I enjoy washing it and cleaning it the way I want so its not a big deal. Its a stress reliever on the weekends too. And me and my sis wash our cars together.
As far as the gifts, we did not recieve gifts from everyone, even family members....We did recieve gifts from uninvited guests (wow), friends who were not invited because we had a huge family and a small budget (another boring story), and guests who were invited but couldn't make it due to death in the family (they were the ones who gave us all our china, plus 2K in cash!)
so it balanced out. However, we really were gracious for everything, and I guess knowing how many in our family struggle, and he said some in his family are stingy anyways, we were thankful nevertheless.
We did get a lot of checks, and none bounced. We got alot of cash too.
My FH and I decided to register. I have no idea what type of dishes he like I am into the classic, timeless, type of things. I hope we can agree btu we have awhile for that. We are planning an engagement party now. I know we are paying for it ourselves!

This is soooo true. The more you give, the more your receive. Unfortunately, to many people lose sight of this.

I love giving ...it's nothing more priceless that the look on someone's face when they see you gave more than they expected!!!
Now don't read that in the wrong frame of mind! LMAO That wording can go a two way street ...just know I'm sticking with the topic though! LOL
And if I wasn't ...I'm already in the corner, and Mrs. Soontobe aint here! LOL
