Re: Butterbean's Blog (featuring Dallas vendors)

Nicky, Rhythm Nation wrote me back right away. I told them that I was willing to pay $100 per dancer (3 dancers limit) for a five minute show. If they want more than that then they can forget it.

They also want me to choose the song. I'm getting with FH to see what he thinks. I might go with Superstar Part Zero by K-Os. It's not bass heavy and its on the softer, jazzier side to ease the grand relatives. LOL

THanks Nicky! I'm going to tear up my mother's closets to find pictures of me when I was little trying to breakdance and post it up here. It's just something I was always interested in.

I've got a lot done this month. The breakdancers have been booked and it looks like we are going to go with Black Eyed Pea for catering, and I am chatting it up with the DOC I found on Craigslist. I think that this is where everything becomes complicated. LOL

Butter, I came across this cute cake topper and it reminded me of your wedding. I haven't seen it before. Please let me know if I'm way off base. What will your cake look like anyway? I'm loving your purchases so far. That organza dress is gorgeous!..shoes, flowers, everything.

That's adoreable, Princess! It looks like one of those figurines that my aunt collects.
We've got a cake topper. Another bride in another forum told me that she had the same topper, but it fell off the cake and broke the groom's foot. LOL. Hopefully, the baker will know to prop it up on one of those skewers.

Excellent choice! I love that cake topper too and almost ordered it for our own wedding but I decided to purchase another one to fit under a gazebo.

I found our getaway car!! I seriously want to ride off in a 50's vintage car thanks to this photo:

I've just contacted the transportation services that has this car sitting on their lot:

I'm not a fan of pink (I got pink silk flowers by default), but I love it's style.

Re: Butterbean's Blog (featuring Dallas vendors)

I'm proud of my wedding map:

We have rented a convertable for $105 that night, so pfffft to limo rentals and FH's friend's busted car.

BTW, here is a hurried and horrible picture of me in my dress. I was fresh out the bed and shower before preparing for work. I'll have to learn how to work that timer some time soon. LOL

It reminds me that I also need to hook up with a good makeup artist. I'm really not used to styling myself up.

I had to photoshop the dress to fit me better than it actually did. I'm planning on going to my seamstress in a couple of weeks.

I'm asking my daddy to construct a stand like this for my cake:

This is selling on Ebay for a ridiculous $60 for shipping, painting, etc.

Speaking of Ebay, I was lucky to find these shoes and had paid $30 for them. The others Id posted before fell through because Shoes.com wouldn't let me exchange them while honoring the sale price I had before.

With that said, I'm planning on kicking them off soon after I jump the broom because those mfs hurt after awhile! LOL
My chillin shoes:

Final note: I HATE MY MOTHER'S MOB DRESS!!!!!! But whatever makes her happy.

That's all for now.

So, what's going on with day that you feel you need a full-time planner? It seems that you have a good handle on things.

Things are okay now. That was my inner drama queen blogging. LOL I was just bummed that my breakdancer idea fell through and my mother is being a pain.
I whined at one of my cousins and now she's helping me along with my sister.  I'm excited that I'm having a bridal shower and that I don't have to lift a finger for it.

Re:What's up Sis?

We've applied for our wedding license yesterday! That was the most unromantic place ever. The deputy county clerk had a stone face as if her last couple got into it with her. I also had to avoid looking at a kid whose parents refuse to go around the corner and wash the dried snot off his face. That is my pet peeve.
Well, my breakdancers are back! They had to change thier domain names and phone numbers, but they had contacted me to tell me that everything is still on the up and up.
The wedding shower is tomorrow. I'll have to gather up my bridesmaid giftbags. It consists of lotions, purse holders, candles, wine stoppers, and this humor book:

After the wedding, I'll have to give my sister and my cousin something extra special. They have helped me out so much with this wedding that they deserve much more than those knick-knacks.
I'm also dishing out plenty of these candy bars for everyone that attends.

I'm expecting only a dozen people.
I am soooooo nervous about having my wedding outside. I'm hoping for 70 degree weather just as it was the past few years around that time so I wont have to use that banquet hall. Not that it's a bad place, but I've always wanted to have an outdoor wedding. I'm truely taking a gamble.

I also want to recommend a fantastic deodorant. Usually, clear gel deodorants let me down, so I usually stick with the solid stuff. However, I tested Secret Platinum clear gel yesterday and it worked like a charm all day.

Last word:
I'm still on the fence about splurging $333/night on The Joule for our wedding night with the modern art-deco furniture and the rooftop pool and underground nightclub:

I had a fantastic time at my shower. I've got much needed dishes, silverware, new pots and pans and a wireless mouse for his laptop along with other goodies.
Now I'm becoming a weather monitor:

I used to root for sunny skies, but I can stand for cloudy. It's been an unusual 80 - 85 degree weather so far. It's nice to see that it will be cooling off soon. The rain is actually encouraging for now.

Re:Butterbean's Blog (featuring Dallas vendors)

Looks like I have plenty of homework to do, thanks to my photographer. I've been so busy worrying about my reception that I have totally neglected my ceremony. My photographer asked me these questions in an e-mail as I rant to myself in red:
Do you also happen to have a script of the ceremony itself or program of any sort that you could email me just so I can get a feel for where to be when.
I wasnt planning on outlining or making any programs. I don't have anything special planned for the ceremony. I want it to be short and sweet.
Where will the girls and guys be getting ready? I presume you wanted me to capture that.  As much as I love looking through pictures of other brides doing this, I wont have time since I have so much to do as I help set things up at the venue.

Also, since we probably won't meet before the day of the ceremony, I was wondering if you could email me a photo of the two of you so I can know who to be on the look out for haha.

This sentence almost made me tear up. I just realized that we dont have any good pictures of the two of us together. For the five years we've been together, we have never bothered to take any professional photos and the candid ones are always awful. We cheaped out on everything having to do with photos in this wedding because we felt indifferent to them. We even skipped on engagement photos. I was actually pressured into hiring a professional for the wedding because of our parents. So that's the story on that.

The day is getting closer. I imagine you are both getting very excited. I look forward to meeting you then.

Thank you,
Sarah

Re:Butterbean's Blog (featuring Dallas vendors)

Hi, Butterbean. I want to give you some encouragement, Sis. For our wedding, I didn't give our photographer a script of the ceremony. I don't know if he picked up a program that he saw hanging around. I doubt it. What I did send him was a complete list of photos we wanted taken before, during, and after the cermony, and during the reception.  I sent the same list to the videographer with a few tweaks. I used a cheat sheet from one of those wedding planning books and modified it for our purposes. I saw him checking it every now and again throughout the evening to make sure he was getting all the photos we requested, but he was a pro and used to doing this sort of thing. Besides, it's not that hard to figure out what photos need to be taken during the ceremony. That's the easiest part to figure out for the day. I can understand her asking about the rest of the time, but the ceremony?

If you want her getting shots of you getting ready, you may be able to manage that depending on how early you start setting up. You have to be extremely organized with your time though. We were supposed to start setting up at 10am, but didn't really start until 11am. Dag, it's hard getting folk out of the house on time. We were done setting up the reception room by about 2:30pm. From there, we went to get ready.  We got ready from about 2:30 to 4:15.  While we were getting ready, the photographer took pics of the reception room. Hubby and I took pics on the beach from about 4:15 to 4:45. Then I was back in the hotel room changing into my clothes for the ceremony. It was during this time that the photographer took pics of the men first in their room and then the women in our room from about 4:45 to 5:30. Then, the ceremony started about 5:40pm...about 10 minutes late (that's VI time!)  It was a lot to do but I didn't want us to miss our shots. Yes, our photographer worked hard for that money. It's not a must to do this, but it is nice. We got some nice photos we would have completely missed if we didn't make the effort.

We didn't take engagement photos either. Really, it wasn't a huge priority since we had taken professional pics on a cruise a few months before and that's what I posted on our website...and since it was kind of a destination wedding, they weren't offered in a package. Don't feel bad about it. Just send a basic photo of you both...and maybe she's joking. I mean, how can she miss you? You're the bride. Duh! The best dressed men are usually in the wedding party so that shouldn't be so hard either.

Re:What's up Sis?

More encouraging news...I know you're constantly looking at the weather predictions. Look but don't stress over it. The most you can do is have a back-up ceremony room in case of that four letter word...r-a-i-n.  That is the one thing that is completely out of your control, so just roll with it. Although it's usually nice and sunny in the VI, I looked and looked everyday, worrying because everyday, including our wedding day, called for rain. The day of our wedding, it was really, really, overcast. That's why the sea in our photos isn't the usual turquoise blue. However, God answered our prayers, because He held those clouds for us, and not one drop of rain fell...and guess what? From what I've read, cloudy is better conditions for photos anyway.  So, just have faith that you will also have the same good fortune. If it does rain, you will cross that bridge when you come to it, just as you and your FH will cross any bridges together that come your way in life.

My last post as a single woman. :)

Hi ladies!
The stressful part is over. The weather for my outdoor spring-themed wedding is going to be fantastic!

I have a 10am hair appointment and I'm bringing this picture of Jennifer Hudson along with me.

Once I return, I'll have to make two more of these for my aisle decor:

Then I have to give my venue $140 in cash for clean-up and set-up. Then write final checks for $187, $200, and $125 for my breakdancers, DOC, and guitarist respectively. I truely hate it when they give you bills on the day of your wedding.
The bad news...and I know that this is TMI, is that I've started my period yesterday and I'm afraid of becoming bloated, among other things. I wasn't thinking about my cycle at all when I planned this date. LOL Well, at least I've got my perfect weather.
Princess, I want to thank you once again for helping me out with what to tell my photographer.
I'll probably post again later before my wedding.
Thank you all and God bless!
